An interesting Superblog suggestion from vto at The Standard:
We need a forum for some heavyweights to do heavy battle on these issues.
So I propose that a forum be set up – perhaps on a new website – which only invited posters can comment on.
For example – outline and weigh the benefits and costs to New Zealand taxpayers of selling their electricity companies.
On one side – r0b and eddie.
On the other side – Farrar and Hooton.Thrash the issue out in its entirety with only those players. See what the outcome is.
I think this idea has a lot of merit, something like the battle of the bloggers, occassional blog debates on major topics scheduled over a set timeframe.
Who would invite the participating bloggers? If it’s done by the site organisers they would have to be seen to be scrupulously impartial. Otherwise it could be done by nominations and votes from say Kiwiblog and The Standard, but there are other blogs and bloggers who could be worth considering too.
It would be good to include experts like Graeme Edgeler as well. And possibly MPs relevant to the topic?
Worth exploring some more.
