Pistorious found guilty of murder

A South African court of appeal has overturned the verdict in the trial of Oscar Pistorious, upgrading the conviction to murder.

This doesn’t surprised me. It surprised me that the original verdict was just of manslaughter.

Firing multple shots into a bathroom knowing that someone was in there msut have been with the knowledge that it could kill someone.

Specific intent to kill is more difficult to determine but multiple shots suggest some degree of intent.

The big unanswered question is whether there was intent to harm or kill Reeva Steenkamp. This may remain unanswered.

I wonder how much the Pistorius Court Case has cost the South African Government now?

When I heard the recent “Re-Verdict” … my first thought was … “What a wishy-washy Mickey Mouse Legal System they seem to have over in South Africa … where they can just change their minds a year later” 😦

I thought that it was murder when I heard that she had her phone in the loo with her-who takes their phone in there ? He must have known it was her. My guess is that she fled from him and grabbed the phone to call for help, but was killed before she had the chance to,

The ‘story’ that, he thought there was a home invasion & he shot at this person through the toilet door.. was quite frankly, to my mind: B-S
The appeal judge obviously was not taken in, by the celebrity hype, that seemed to dominate the first trial.
Justice, seen to be done.. good job ! :/

Surely one would call the police first, even if one believed that it was a burglar. I’d be out of there and calling the boys in blue from my mobile, as there’d be too great a chance that the burglar would be armed and would shoot back if I missed them. Also, I wonder how his failure to make sure his girlfriend was safe was explained, as he can hardly have failed to notice that she wasn’t there.

As he left court this morning, Pistorius was asked by a TV reporter what he thought the major factor was in the Appeals Court overturning the original verdict, he replied, “It’s got me stumped” 🙂

Not funny, Nelly. This was a hideous way for that young woman to die, and not a subject for attempts at humour.

Sorry if you’re offended KC – guess you never caught up with any of the other ten million ‘Oscar’ jokes that were doing the rounds last year 🙂

I’m reminded of what my dear ol’ gran used to say, “Remember Nell, not everyone thinks like us, there are a lot of very SAD people in the world”

I fail to see that the horrible murder of an innocent person is a fit subject for jokes. It’s not a case of my being offended, it’s a case of the people who make showing no respect or sympathy for the agonising, terror-filled death of this young woman who fled in fear of her life and was callously shot by the man who should have protected her, not killed her. Maybe this seems funny to some people, but to most it doesn’t. Murder is not usually considered amusing,I don’t imagine that the families of murder victims find such ‘jokes’ hilariously funny.

Did you find this year’s mass shootings in America funny as well, or the Paris killings ?
