  1. News Flash!!! Ex RNZ.
    Serco … Cerco … Circo … dropped.
Contract to operate Mt Eden prison will not be renewed next March.
Findings of ‘Fight Club’ enquiry cannot be released due to Court action by Serco.

I’m getting a little tired of the courts deciding what we can and can’t know about the spending of public money.

      • Maxwell Smart: The old court injunction information suppression trick eh? 4th time I’ve been caught by it this week!
More NEWS!!! – Sounds like Serco will be replaced by a new private provider.
Since Serco are one of the largest such providers on earth, one wonders who else might do it? The Salvation Army? (I couldn’t resist, sorry!)
Is it written somewhere that Mt Eden prison must remain privatized?
The old conspiracy theory imagination runs riot!
A new tender process, from which Serco are not excluded; and they win a new, more expensive contract to run Mt Eden prison, effectively replacing themselves.
Or perhaps Corrections can tender and, if they win, receive extra funding as a public/private provider?
