Terrible Newshub poll

As I’ve often said, online polls are flaky at the best of times, but today’s Paul Henry poll is one of the worst I’ve seen.

PollNewshubStupid

This is open to anyone whether they currently vote Green or not, so the result can’t accurately reflect opinion on the question, presuming non-Green voters are likely to respond, including current ACT voters.

But worse is the poll promoting of one of the two choices, with “The Right Choice” prominent.

You couldn’t get a more suggestive graphic accompanying a poll.

This is a terrible poll.

And it gets worse – Seymour and ACT were featured on the Paul henry Show.

Up next leader David Seymour joins us to talk about his plan to get votes.

The image is biassing but could still have given an indication of how soft the Green allegiance is but the killer is the lack of any verification the voters voted Green.

What an utter disgrace some of our main stream media and some of our so called ‘journalists’/’Presenters’/’hosts’ have become!

Actually a number of the media works new/political team play quite a destructive role in encouraging NZers to take a “thoughtful” approach towards politics and our democracy, But Paul (and Padddy) have to be the worst. They would be more helpful to the democratic process by giving Alan a slot exlaining the ABC of just how polls work – I’m not entirely joking. Be intersting though watching the confusion on the Media Works crews faces.

There have been heaps of complaints to the Paul Henry Show about “The Right Choice” Picture accompanying the Poll.

Paul Henry seemed very displeased with Charlotte who created the poll … and he told her on air that she might have to go … and she was absolutely shell shocked when he said it.

Poor Charlotte then tried to question him about it … and Henry just shut her down and said he would talk about it with her later.

    Paul Henry wasn’t laughing :/

Apparently Charlotte was leaving anyway … but Paul was genuinely reprimanding her for doing a poor job.

But Henry then started receiving hate mail from people who thought he was threatening to fire her.

      Confused ???

It was pretty bizarre stuff even by Paul Henrys standards. LOL 🙂

It was singularly inappropriate-I believe your account, and it’s the sort of thing that PH would think was clever and funny. Imagine the embarassment to that poor girl-and the potential damage done to her prospects.

Embarassment is the weapon of choice when these Talking Heads want to make some one pay. And they think that Who they ridicule is ‘what people really want to say’ but don’t have the walnuts to proclaim it. Ha
Deluded fools and PH is the King of them all.
King of the Deluded … sounds right.

Oh god, that guy’s beady little cross-eyes and that gormless straight grin always put me in mind of those spring-headed spaniels that people used to put on the back shelf of their car.

This is a non event that appeals to people with nothing better to do that examine their own profile. ACT should ignore the Greens because being a Green voter today equates to being a Marxist, sex uncertain, activist non-thinker to whom facts are irrelevant. ACT needs to go well to the right, stop pretending to be liberterian orientated produce some detailed costings around lower taxes, smaller govt, restoring privacy, user pays and pinch National votes and bring pressure to bear on them by being a coalition partner.

I think you should distinguish between Green activists and Green voters. The typical Green voter is an affluent educated professional woman who has little economic education or interest. I would have thought there is an opportunity to offer a more sensible economic policy together with intelligent environmental management to those people.

You’re absolutely right, the greens environmental credentials are their soft red underbelly. It’s about time somebody took a stab.

I agree with you Pete, in my professional opinion this is the worst poll I’ve ever seen. I offer my poll services to Paul Henry and newshub.

That picture of David Seymour on the Paul Henry Show at the bottom of your post is priceless. Hope the newspapers use that one as often as often as possible.
