Anonymous “total war” on democracy

I’m not a fan of Donald Trump and i think the US democratic system is a mess and getting worse, but Anonymous declaring “total war” on Trump is bad for democracy.

news.com.au: Anonymous declares ‘total war’ on Donald Trump in new propaganda video

In a move that doesn’t really come as a shock to anyone, hacking collective Anonymous has declared “total war” on Donald Trump.

Using its trademark propaganda video, Anonymous addressed the citizens of the world announcing the re-engagement of “OpTrump” on a much larger scale.

“Donald Trump, we have been watching you for a long time and what we’ve seen is deeply disturbing,” the video starts.

“Your inconsistent and hateful campaign has not only shocked the United States of America, you have shocked the entire planet with you appalling actions and ideas. You don’t stand for anything but your personal greed and power.

“This is a call to arms. This is a call to the freedom fighters, to the forgotten, to the censored, to our fellow hacktivists throughout the world. This is a call to protect our future, our freedom and our very way of life. This is a call to you.

“We need you to shut down his websites, research and expose what he doesn’t want the public to know. We need you to dismantle his campaign and sabotage his brand.”

An anonymous non-democratic group doing dirty like this is deeply disturbing.

Ironically some of their motivation is quite similar to the motivation of Trump supporters – anti-establishment.

One is taking advantage of a corrupt system, the other is trying to further corrupt it.

Anonymous are more like anarchists than freedom fighters. They certainly weon’t have a mandate.

I’d be more worried if it wasn’t Donald Blow-Your-Own-Trumpet.

I almost see some parallels to that MSM National Party shill here, Mike Hoskings.

Had the unfortunate experience the other morning of having to listen to his rant on ZB Breakfast, when he was outright rubbishing Trump, and already calling it a landslide for Hillary Clinton. (No doubt doing his ‘Masters’ bidding.)

His reasoning, ‘Clinton had all the Black and Hispanic votes tied up’.

Still, similar thing worked for Len Brown I suppose. And that sure turned out well, eh?

I would be extremely surprised if Mike Hosking was doing someone’s bidding-who’d be mad enough to ask him to do so ? He’s an opinionated smart-alec who’d do the cause of anyone silly enough to take him on as a spokesman more harm than good. The only person whose bidding he does is himself.

Many people believe trump is trying to bring back fascism.

His calls for protesters to be “carried out on stretchers” etc are deeply disturbing.

He is clearly trying to wedge racial groups against one another and generally stir up hatred and violence.

I say he deserves whatever Anon can throw at him.

If I was in Trump’s position I’d be calling for protestors to be carried out in body bags.

It’s called using dramatics to make a point.

Yeah, just like at Kent State.

All just a bit of theatre, eh?

        Disgusting, Kevin.

I am in a moral quandary; I am totally against the methods of Anonymous, but loathe what I have seen of Trump. This loathing shouldn’t make any difference, but it does. He is a ghastly man, and I hate his calls to violence against protestors-anyone on a stretcher will have been seriously injured.

      • That right there, Kitty, is the moral quandary that faces every hacktivist with brains. The main rule is to punch up and never down but there’s a lot of nuance to the scene.

Anonymous isn’t a group – it’s an idea. Anyone can be Anonymous. Anyone.

        “The Corrupt Fear Us,
        The Weak support Us,
        The Brave join Us”

        Some nice slogans 😉

        • Yes, nice slogans, but they can be misused to self justify some questionable actions.

I’m very uneasy about non-democratic non-accountable actions in a democracy.

That’s false logic, surely-they’re making it impossible (they think) to disagree. If one neither supports nor joins them, one must be weak or cowardly-but they don’t say why. It’s like saying that anyone who doesn’t admire my house must have bad taste.

Well, anyone who doesn’t admire MY retro house (think 60s kitsch, er, folk art, Crown Lynn swans, ballet pictures, crinoline ladies, 60s furniture, old things everywhere) must have bad taste, of course 🙂

Nanny used to say that self-praise was no recommendation !

(” the re-engagement of “OpTrump” on a much larger scale”)

Does that mean that there was an ‘engagement’ before and on a ‘smaller’ scale?

(“We need you to shut down his websites, research and expose what he doesn’t want the public to know.”)

Won’t he have kept his websites safe ans secure from being hacked?

With any luck he’s so arrogant that he won’t think that anyone would dare to do it.

Trump’s a pitbull terrier rather than a tiger. He’s a hot air balloon and if he’s pricked hard enough, with any luck, he’ll burst.

As President? Lots thought he would have blown up long ago. Wrong so far. I think you are listening to too many people who have already proven poor judges of him. He may be all the things they say, but it looks less and less likely what they think they know is true.

Well, we can all see what a rude,bigoted,self-important, overbearing blowbag he is, if nothing else-he’s not the person I’d want as the face of my country. He’s like Mr Bounderby in Hard Times. It is utterly beyond me that anyone would vote for such a conceited bladder of wind.

You are either pro-democracy or anti-democracy, not just against it when the people don’t vote in your favour.

If Trump is who they vote for then it is Trump who they should get, and deserve.

The more fools they, if they do. The old saying about being careful what you ask for is a cliche now, but it’s still excellent advice.

The other old saying about people getting the government they deserve is true, too.

If someone the Left hates is elected then this is proof that democracy is in trouble.
If someone the Left loves is elected then this is proof that democracy is ok after all.

All this proves is that the Left is scared of Trump and Trump is taking it to them.

      Go Donald!

We have weka in our garden rather than weta. And the dogs discourage them from intrusion. But aside from mozzies with all this humid weather the most annoying intruders are the American cockroaches that infest the garden. That makes the LF variety even less tolerable.

I predict that if elected president Trump will be another Ronald Reagan and will defeat Islamism just like Reagan defeated communism.

Anonymous is ways making threats but I’ve never heard of them following up on those threats. Why the media gives them any attention is beyond me.
