July was hottest recorded month

According to NASA the world keeps heating up, with July 2016 the hottest month since recordings began.

Guardian: July 2016 was world’s hottest month since records began, says Nasa

Last month was the hottest month in recorded history, beating the record set just 12 months before and continuing the long string of monthly records, according to the latest Nasa data.

The past nine months have set temperature records for their respective months and the trend continued this month to make 10 in a row, according to Nasa. July broke the absolute record for hottest month since records began in 1880.

Similar data from the US National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration (Noaa) said the past 14 months have broken the temperature record for each month, but it hasn’t released its figures for July yet.

Nasa’s results, which combine sea surface temperature and air temperature on land, showed July 2016 was 0.84C hotter than the 1951 to 1980 average for July, and 0.11C hotter than the previous record set in July 2015.

As the string of hottest months continues, 2016 is “virtually certain” to be the hottest year on record, said David Karoly, a climate scientist from the University of Melbourne.

el nino was strong this year so no surprise. Why is it when there is a cold season its just weather but when its warmer its climate change. As soon as global warmist put in some sane predictions that actually turn out to be correct i will start taking notice of them and in the meantime i will carry on doing my bit for the environment everyday.

    • El nino has certainly contributed to this years warming and temperatures are expected to gradually settle back a bit, but overall temperatures are still tacking higher significantly.

Not according to the IPCC or those lying loons in England who hid the decline who both admitted there has been no increase in average temperatures in 17 years. Quite a pause and not at all in line with their predictions.

Must have been warmer everywhere except Auckland. It sure wasn’t warmer here.

The actual amount wasn’t that great-one would hardly have noticed it in the parts of the world where it was summer. Why not say ‘temperatures highest since…’ ? Less than one degree doesn’t make it feel much ‘ hotter’.

Seems NASA is not a happy camp when it comes to root cause analysis

“49 American heroes – the astronauts that took to space and the scientists and engineers that put them there – are simply stating their concern over NASA’s extreme advocacy for an unproven theory”

Hey look… the mean temperature is steadily rising (highest on record).. BUT apparently, there is no EVIDENCE that the climate is changing (according to the NAY-sayers).. BUT those with a rational mind, can see it, obviously bloody well is !! 😦

Can it be that the huge increase in CO2 emissions (burning fossil fuels).. now passing 400ppm (up from about 300 a few decades ago) has ANYTHING to do with it ? :/

Does your use of CAPITAL letters, convince you that you have a valid argument? It doesn’t work for me – just the opposite really. Just like shouting doesn’t prove a point.

of course.. some people are so sure they have all the answers (ie NO evidence of climate change) OR they are wearing blinkers.. that real FACTS, just don’t count to them anyway…. :/ 😦

Who says there is no evidence of climate change? Links please.

Until Al Gores doco. came out, I’m betting nearly everyone on the ‘right’ were saying ‘NO evidence !’

Even now, I often hear.. ‘its just a normal cycle’ BUT they ignore the massive build up of CO2 (GREEN HOUSE GAS) in the atmosphere, in recent years.. that just happens to be coinciding with the upward slop on the graphs. :/

So not a single link because no-one with half a brain says there is no evidence of climate change because the climate has always changed.

And there is a good deal of evidence we are due for an ice age which would be far, far more disastrous for human life than a slowly warming world.

As a matter of interest, has anyone got the raw data (unadjusted by professional alarmists) of a long run temperature series from a NZ site? I just wonder if it would look in the slightest like NASA’s chart. I suspect not.

I also wonder why NASA prefers it’s highly fudged and continuously adjusted manually collected data rather than the automatic, comprehensive datasets from its own satellites?

Probably because it looks like this and is not nearly scary enough:

Al Gore’s documentary has been completely debunked either through the use of wrong or misleading information (as proven in a high court case), or by the passage of time where his extreme predictions of impending doom didn’t eventuate.

Climate has always changed – it is the major cause of the changes that is up for debate (or if you are in the ‘pro-human induced climate change’ camp you try to stifle any such debate by saying “the science is settled”, or trying to make it illegal to even question the issue).

@z, ‘no evidence of climate change’. Let’s work this through. Humour me, let’s expose them. Where are these people. Just a couple of examples will suffice. Cheers, c

Oh dear. I forgot that the enclosed & would remove the code. I don’t know what happened to underline . as I checked them all 😀

For italic, enclose the words between
              Underline ditto
              Bold ditto

I watched Ms Bennett.. trying to justify the news, that this Govt. has been buying ‘DODGY Carbon credits’ that show NZ is avoiding our responsibility under the Kyoto protocol.. she said ‘we are signing the latest Paris agreement’ BUT that hardly justifies their total lack of action/credibility on this issue ! 😦

Gordon to her credit has stated she knows absolutely NOTHING about climate, and environmental issues. This is a pre requisite for a portfolio in the Key administration. We know this by looking at the performance of Smith,Parata,McCully,Lotu-Liga,Tolley,Collins,and …co.

ALL carbon credits are dodgy considering the theory behind them is pure nonsense.
