Social chat – Friday

A post for social chat to keep it separate from posts that discuss issues. You can still chat socially on other posts if it happens in relation to other discussions but if you simply want a bit of social chat try this.

The usual guidelines apply as to respecting others, behaviour and avoiding legal exposure. An emphasis on ‘social’, not ‘anti-social’.

Slackass. I posted an excellent piece of blues from the early stones who sounded just like me & paddy and me mates when we learnt our first four chords, and then went off and fell asleep, and all did was whinge about it & bugger off yourself c?

Slipslop Bart or whatever his name was doesn’t faze us.

Will revisit that stones number later G, sounds interesting. I was curious to tease out of sideshow his politics and explore further his feelings of rejection. He worked himself up into a bit of a lather about one of the more prolific bloggers here, not from north welly I hasten to add. More later…

Just further to my post about Typical Irish Brothers yesterday – thought I’d share this IM I received from my older brother on my birthday last Monday (22 Aug). He’s talking about my biological dad – Mickey-da – and his older brother, me uncle Partrick. (Mum & me da’s wedding anniversary was the same day as my birthday.)

    “Classic Mickey-da sayings:

Yes I agree, because I am unable to concur
    The happy apron couple
A couple who cooks together stays together?

Watching them cook was always a touching sight – especially as Dad would help Mum to drain the boiled potatoes with her slowly recovering stroke-side arm without her scalding them both!

Dad’s learning to cook under Mum’s tutelage evinced his comment, “Nana was wrong – she said, ‘Fatboy (Pat) will always be able to cook himself a meal, but Mick would starve’ “. Sibling rivalry was alive and well then too – well into their 70s. Pat once grumped about Mick, “Harrumph! He always was his mother’s favourite.”

Overheard; a big sister of/to her only brother. ‘You never listen to a word I say !’

After 80+ years, he wasn’t likely to start 😀

To be fair, the sister laughed when she’d said it.

At least 8 waxeyes were busily stuffing tangelo down their necks this morning.

I cut the tangeloes across and push them onto two lengths of wood with a nail (blunt end up) at each end. The waxeyes seem to be spreading the word that there’s free fruit at my place, which is very unselfish of them.

I’ve put GB on a diet. She’s been over the neighbours’ place several days this week eating 3-4 toast cut slices of white bread put out for the finches & sparrows, after quacking agitatedly at them & chasing them off. Then she’s had the gall to fly over the fence into my backyard and start trying to bully me into giving her more.

Haven’t seen OB turning up for free kai for a couple of days – off galavanting around with the b/f I reckon. But both of them turned up yesterday evening, along with Mr & Mrs Pooky and Li’l Pook.

When I looked at her slim, trim older sister, I saw that GB’s now as big as a house. So, she’s been told, “Slim pickings for you, my girl. You can hardly even get into the air at the moment!”

  4. Off on a month’s holiday to BALI end of the week.

    Cannot wait.
