/ 14th December 2016Lemme translate that for you:
Trump pledges to crush political correctness = Trump is determined to suppress inconvenient truths by policing language
The Alt-Right reinvented the expression ‘political corectness’ back in the 1980s in protest at the rise of the humanistic tradition. And ever since it’s been used by the Alt-Right to drive a wedge between the working class and those who claim to speak for them, and a way to rebrand racism in ways that are politically acceptable in the post-civil rights era.

/ 14th December 2016Great Joe cracking the code, from Donald and the 2016 P.C.code talkers. 😉
Just reading about the Navajos code talkers Code talking, was pioneered by Cherokee and Choctaw Indians during World War I. How so very interesting.

/ 14th December 2016During both World Wars, NZ Army used Maori to Maori speakers on line phones and tactical radio. For long term protection of information you also need to use codes and cypher protection as iy is first level security only.

/ 14th December 2016The working class have noticed that those who claim to represent them have never been working class.

/ 14th December 2016Trump’s certainly blown that aphorism out of the water, eh Alan …?
Righties rant about the NZ’s Chardonnay Middle-Class claiming to represent workers … (which of course plenty of them are) … Now a Mega-Hyper-Rich billionaire property speculator President Elect is claiming to do so … (and he’s also a worker) …
Perhaps it’s what the voice says rather than whose voice it is that counts?
Regardless, Joe’s got the translation correct to a ‘T’ …
Joe Bloggs
/ 14th December 2016Alan, that’s not an unreasonable assertion – but I’ll qualify your over-generalising bloviation by noting that MANY (BUT FAR FROM ALL) OF those who claim to represent them have never been working class… Trump’s a prime example.
One of the biggest ironies is how people buy into the reinvention of political correctness. Supporters talk about Trump speaking his mind: “He’s not politically correct.” But nobody ever describes themselves as “politically correct”. The phrase is only ever an accusation.
It’s what the ancient Greek rhetoricians might have called an exonym, a name for another group, used to signal that the speaker doesn’t belong to it.
In short, it’s crypto-political double-speak that’s used by the Alt-Right to crush liberal discourse.
Alan Wilkinson
/ 14th December 2016As opposed to the politically correct discourse that was employed at maximum volume by the US MSM in their attempt to crush Trump?
Yes, the working class have figured that those who claim to represent them are not of them. So they decided to vote for the person they thought would do best for them instead of the one who thought she had their class in her pocket.

/ 14th December 2016It’s unfortunate that people like Trump who claim to be anti-PC see this as a license to be offensive.
Anyone who’s fool enough to think that he gives a stuff for the working class and vote for him. must be a real fool.
It’s appallling that millions of voters have effectively been disenfranchised in the US and their votes disallowed. They must wonder why they bothered to vote if their votes weren’t to count. The Electoral College system is a scandal, and I can’t imagine why they keep it. What’s the point of voting when there’s a chance that your vote won’t mean anything ?

/ 14th December 2016Unusual, but very informative clip. These dudes narrate and muse as they motorcycle through the Chinese countryside. Ok, Roundy, they start with why you will never be Chinese. Then there’s greencards, land sales…you name it. Reminds me of Burt Lancasters character in the ”The Swimmer” odyssey.

/ 14th December 2016Very interesting article confirming much of what our intrepid motorcyclists had to say. I have been uncomfortable with our close relationship with China for some time. The reason is spelt out in your article….China will protect its foreign interests and considers all Chinese people, even those who have renounced their citizenship as Chinese.
Too many Westerns don’t get the Asian mindset. They think the situation through from a ‘Roundeye’ point of view. So when Chinese in New Zealand start a political party which openly states its loyalty is to China, they think “how strange.”. When China rocks up to the Islands and invests heavily alarm bells don’t ring. And when a Chinese milk export company gets favour from the Chines government above New Zealand companies the penny still doesn’t drop.
However, there is good news. The seeds of China’s destruction are contained within their foreign policies and ethnic tensions. These weaknesses are worked on daily by the West. Lets hope we succeed first.

/ 14th December 2016Yes brother corks I hope so too. A breakup is inevitable. As the old Chinese saying goes ‘the mountains are high and the emperor is far away’. But they will remain under communist rule sadly. Cheers,c

/ 15th December 2016Clever kitty !
I still laugh meanly at the memory of my mother’s dog who could go out through the cat door, a square cut from the bottom of the back door-he was a miniature longhaired dachshund. He suddenly began to do his business on the kitchen floor as if he’d forgotten his house-training. The reason was discovered when my mother found the cat sitting with her backside blocking the catdoor on the other side. Dog was frantically whining and pleading to be let through ‘Please, please, I’m busting, I can’t hold on much longer, lemme through, PLEEEEEASE…’ as he crossed his legs and squeezed his bum closed. The cat must have had many good laughs from this. Once she’d been sprung, she stopped doing it. No more ‘accidents’ and a happy dog.
