This is just too funny, everyone is buying ads on the shows Trump watches to get his attention.

What do you do if your a Veterans Organisation and the President refuses to meet with you?

You but an ad in the middle of a show that he tweets about every week.

And then the very next night, John Oliver buys ad time on all cable news show in the DC area to run an ad the teaches the President what the ‘nuclear triad’ is, as he didn’t know when asked in an interview.

(reposted from late last night,as it got lost at the bottom of yesterdays long thread. And added the John Oliver clip which wasn’t available last night)

Is Oliver just a Trump stalker?

Nup, Oliver is a national hero – highlighting the stuff the trumpettes don’t want sunlight to touch…

Trolls these days are very much of the right. As evidenced by the absolute bile going on in here. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt4645330/board/?ref_=tt_bd_sm
Read it quick, if you dare, it’s getting shut down this week due to right wing trolls.

It’s the byproduct of having a President and others who preach mistrust of the media. People can’t distinguish where to draw the line between truth and untruth. End result, holocaust deniers are rampant, the earth is flat, seismic surveying made the whales beach the list goes on and on.

David Irving the holocaust denier says he gets 200-300 emails a week from young people who he says are Trump supporters.

@ Al What makes you think that supermodel Emily Ratajkowski is a left winger, or part of the media even?
There is an issue there, but it’s ‘fruit of the rotten tree’ stuff – tweeting overheard conversations, that’s not cool.

            • Alan Wilkinson

               /  February 14, 2017

AC, ridiculous as most Lefty stuff. Trump’s son-in-law is a Jew and Trump has better relations with Israel than Obama.

“You got the wrong end of that stick.”
By definition a troll requires the Internet, Ratajkowski was the one on the internet – typing up an overheard private conversation. Double troll.
And if the reporter was working at the time, then we’re talking about a fashion reporter. Not some press gallery hack, a fashion reporter.

            • Alan Wilkinson

               /  February 14, 2017

Ratajowski reported that the NYT reporter slandered. Almost certainly just repeating what gets said all the time in the NYT offices but is censured when the public get to hear about it.

            • Anonymous Coward

               /  February 14, 2017

That article doesn’t tell the story you’re saying it does.
I’ll say it one more time – FASHION REPORTER.

“Ratajowski reported” What so she is the media now? No, she Tweeted.
Tweets are not reports. You’re reaching again Al.

            • Alan Wilkinson

               /  February 14, 2017

You’ve said fashion reporter multiple times. The article doesn’t say it once. It does say the reporter was not named. Not that it matters whether she was a fashion reporter or not. Of course tweets can be reports.

“A report is an informational work made with the specific intention of relaying information or recounting certain events in a widely presentable and scrutinized form. Reports are often conveyed in writing, speech, television, or film.” – https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Report

            • Anonymous Coward

               /  February 14, 2017

The thing is…either it was a fashion reporter (it was a fashion awards night) therefore the reporter was on duty, or it wasn’t, therefore not on duty, and also – critically – not reporting, or tweeting.
So my money is on fashion reporter, because common sense and the article says the reporter “does not cover Washington or politics”.
Why would you hold a fashion hack to the same level of political nous as a political hack? I wouldn’t. Nor would I expect it from a record reviewer or the gardening columnist. This is why they weren’t sacked.

The real issue here is that some clotheshanger thought she should tweet someones private conversation.

            • Alan Wilkinson

               /  February 14, 2017

You are guessing it was a fashion reporter and I am guessing she was just repeating what gets said in the newspaper offices in private.

Your guess doesn’t matter but my guess does.

            • Anonymous Coward

               /  February 14, 2017

I’ve been to a few newsrooms in my time Al, to visit a political reporter. The fashion reporters weren’t there, they were in a whole different building.
Oh wait, this reporter was on the whole other side of the country.
Your guess doesn’t matter either, it’s based on nothing.

            • Alan Wilkinson

               /  February 14, 2017

The NY Fashion show is on the other side of the country from the NYT? Are you still having comprehension problems?

            • Anonymous Coward

               /  February 14, 2017

It’s in a different state than their political reporters.
(I had a brain fart, Washington has got so Disneyland that for a second I pictured the White House in California).
NYT has 18 departments in a 52 story building.

          • Alan Wilkinson

             /  February 14, 2017

Exactly. You can guess the politics in those 52 stories – or at least the ones the NYT hasn’t had to rent out yet.

Your original point “A lot of the Lefty trolls are MSM journalists, AC:”
We’ve ascertained that the journalist wasn’t trolling so either way you slice it, you failed to make the point you thought you’d made.

Maybe start by looking up the definition of Trolling.

Maureen W pulled out that word, and set the definition.
And I’m not convinced that a paid plant in an online discussion is any different than a paid plant in a snake oil show.
The ony difference would be that the paid plant is almost certainly never being paid. (Putins ‘troll army’ a notable exception)

Actually it’s a thing. Remember when GM was just totally bad and Monsanto was evil incarnate?
Have you now seen all those facebook threads where the gist is ” if you hate GM then you hate science”.
When people say GM is dodgy, the cry is ‘shill’, but what those saying shill don’t realise is the whole “hate GM=hate science ” thing has been a PR initiative from Monsanto and their ilk. It’s very clever, and the idea has taken deep root very quickly, but the fact is those who say shill are, unbeknownst to themselves shilling for those that profit from GM.

All the US late night hosts are Trump stalkers, they have nothing else to talk about. Maher, Cobert, Oliver are given the same script for their shows. I watched the video AC posted this morning and while I got the joke, their efforts to demean Trump are increasingly stupid. Trump is the headline, Trump is the news – everywhere. The only thing worse than being talked about, is not being talked about. Oscar Wilde

Trumpy also claims that the US murder rate is the worst it’s been in 47 years, which is a proven false claim.

Trumpy also claims that CNN’s Chris Cuomo “never asked” Sen. Richard Blumenthal about Blumenthal’s misstatements on his own service in Vietnam. False – Cuomo did ask.

Trumpy also claims that terrorism and terrorist attacks in the United States and Europe have “gotten to a point where it’s not even being reported.”. False – heavily reported.

Trumpy also claimed that God reached down and stopped the rain during his inauguration speech – yet Melania was sheltering under an umbrella from the rain falling on her

Trumpy also claimed there was “serious voter fraud” in Virginia. No evidence whatsoever.

Trumpy claims that he draws far bigger crowds than Beyonce and Jay-Z. Derisive snort…

Trumpy even claimed that “when you’re a star they let you do it. Grab them by the pussy. You can do anything”…. oh wait, he did actually say that. Quite conceivably actually does that too….

The three-way handshake was around long before John Key was, and it usually looks awkward.

If Trump’s a germaphobe, why does he grab women by the genitals in the first place ? Some idiot told me that this was taken out of context, but I can’t see how it could possibly be.

If someone’s a bonecrusher when it comes to handshakes, make sure that you squeeze their hand before they squeeze yours, then they can’t do the crushing. Old but good tip.

I don’t agree; it was one revolting comment among many and we all know what the others were. There’s nothing funny about sexual assault and groping, or leaping on ‘women like bitches’ (like a dog leaping on a bitch on heat ?) or discussing a married woman who wouldn’t let him fuck her (his words) no matter how much he tried to pay her to let him do so. He was showing his real nature.

Mean while back at the Reality TV Show that the White House has become, any offers of odds on whether or when Flynn will get restructured out of a job?

Flynn should be a national security advisor but lied through his teeth to other senior WH staffers about his secret contacts with the Russians. A national security advisor who lies to his colleagues? Who lies to the President?

If Trumpy doesn’t fire Flynn then he risks being tainted with the same brush…what am I saying? Flynn probably took his lead from the Liar-In-Chief…

So much for draining the swamp

Flynn was clearly tapped for his top national security role because the retired general was a sycophant and campaign loyalist. Flynn’s exotic and virulent attitudes toward Islam likely resonated with Trump, but the quality the president values most in people is whether they’re sufficiently loyal to Donald Trump. There are plenty of retired generals out there, and most of them weren’t forced out of high-ranking national security posts for managerial incompetence. Flynn was the one who told Trump what he wanted to hear.

Andrew Sullivan puts his finger on the pulse of an unsettled nation:

I think this is a fundamental reason why so many of us have been so unsettled, anxious, and near panic these past few months. It is not so much this president’s agenda. That always changes from administration to administration. It is that when the linchpin of an entire country is literally delusional, clinically deceptive, and responds to any attempt to correct the record with rage and vengeance, everyone is always on edge.

There is no anchor any more. At the core of the administration of the most powerful country on earth, there is, instead, madness.
