Media watch – Wednesday

15 February 2017

Media Watch is a focus on New Zealand media, blogs and social media. You can post any items of interested related to media.

A primary aim here is to hold media to account in the political arena. A credible and questioning media is an essential part of a healthy democracy.

A general guideline – post opinion on or excerpts from and links to blog posts or comments of interest, whether they are praise, criticism, pointing out issues or sharing useful information.

As usual avoid anything that could cause any legal issues such as potential defamation or breaching suppression orders. Also remember that keeping things civil, legal and factual is more effective and harder to argue against or discredit.

Sometimes other blogs get irate if their material is highlighted elsewhere but the Internet is specifically designed to share and repeat information and anyone who comments or puts anything into a public forum should be aware that it could be republished elsewhere (but please include attribution).

    • “Meet the new trough … dum, dee, dum … Deeper, slimier [and more exclusive] than the old trough!!!”

      Check out the hijacked language!?
      – “immigration global management system independent governance adviser services”
      – “NZ Business Number Senior Advisor Stakeholder Engagement”

But what the heck … ya know … its only “other peoples money” …

And our unemployment & immigration figures would look a whole lot worse if these people were on benefits or had f%#ked off overseas …

Monsanto biting at the bit!! … (Evil cackling laff)
They Now have to put on their labels of round up ‘Possible Cancer Threat’
along with skull and cross bones How delis is this.
A Judge who isn’t frightened by M$ney, Stay Hard Judge!
“Fresno County Superior Court Judge Kristi Kapetan still must issue a formal decision, which she said would come soon.”

Monsanto are fighting Back with all their thousands of dollars an hour lawyers.
    They say …
“Monsanto attorney Trenton Norris argued in court Friday that the labels would have immediate financial consequences for the company. He said many consumers would see the labels and stop buying Roundup.”
“It will absolutely be used in ways that will harm Monsanto,” he said.

Really!!! So we should just suck/snort it up eh Monty … Watch cancer wane off now.

Feeling much better in the leg dept today … thanks for all the caring show in
recommending chemical poison pain killas to me. 🙂
Cos I definitely do not want my kidney to be …… tho I have to admit before I found comfrey I used to use that balm in a purple jar.

  2. I guess this is ‘good news’ …? Young Aussie [wedded] mum, Japanese product, Korean produced, successful AU dealership leading to possible inclusion in Academy Awards ‘gift bags’ … about to challenge for exclusive rights to North America …

“Her mission? Getting them onto the little feet of celebrity offspring like Kourtney Kardashian’s son, Reign.

But, Ms Africh said while social media endorsements were great, “we’re not really trying to push it onto celebrities; we want to grow it organically.”

The search for consistency in marketing is futile … the two are mutually exclusive …

Still, you gotta take your good news wherever you can find it eh?

    • Apparently the trick is to create a “cult following” …

Damn!!! I’ve been trying to do that for years …

No-one seems to want to join my cult … PartisanZ …

We would, of course, if we were under threat of overseas invasion …

I WAS saving this for one of Sir Al’s over-biased howlers … but, seems a good place to try it out first … 😳

        • What you’re actually saying Gezza is you’ll “try it out” first chance you get, regardless …

Rachel says how it is with out religion, we mat grow up with no understanding of how really human other religions … are.
So lets have a hallelujah on that.

All that an understanding, of the basics of the major religions gives one Possum, is a realization of how gullible & stupid the majority of humans are.

  4. Oete, you need a column called ‘Media Unwatch’ for thos of us , who have entirely switched off the ludicrous, sad, and dying MSM.

    Why are Worksafe doing this???
The wife of an employee brings their son to work on a Saturday, when management aren’t there, & he dies in a tragic accident. How is this the company’s fault?

I really hope that the judge in this case, gives Worksafe a verbal ‘hiding’. Business owners are scared shitless about this sort of prosecution. So much so, that I have had to fight really hard for ‘the boys’ right to enjoy a beer or two, after work on Friday. My employer is terrified, that if one of them does something stupid later on, he will be held liable. Whatever happened to adults being responsible for their own actions?

fighting a losing battle there Patu…bevys after work on Friday is long gone.Too risky for management ands not recommended on premise.

Yup, instead we have to go down the road to the pub. The silly think is, the pub face no consequences if someone gets DIC’d on the way home from there. They will just say “He was pissed, so we kicked him out”. Their responsibility ends at the door…

Again, another example of our so called justice system at work…
A night of drunken stupidity ends in tragedy. Locking this guy up won’t bring his mate back. Surely living with his friend’s death on his conscience forever, is punishment enough.
