Wonder how this would wash in the run up to our election.
“Mental health experts say Trump is unfit to serve
Some psychologists and psychiatrists are speaking out about Trump because of a duty to warn. Lawrence talks to two experts with this view: Dr. Lance Dodes and Dr. John Gartner, whose online petition of mental health professionals has more than 26,000 signatures.”

Well, I’ll have a gander, Pete. But I can tell you already that Sir Alan’s & my own professional diagnoses will almost certainly differ on The Dotus’s personality disorder because of His Grace’s untreated TBS.

Must have been a great relief for those with budgetary responsibilities at various institutions to have a certain faculty member across so many departments and disciplines. Must have saved a fortune.

The FiP browsers don’t like watching msnbc’s videos any more than His Lordship does, PK. They are crashing more often than he does. (He’s in denial anout his TBS of course – “sad!” – as Trumpy would tweet.) I’ll have to watch it on the lappy. Stand by … 😷

Is there some reason I should take that sort of crap seriously, Pete?

It’s just part of the political narrative across the MSM (including our own RNZ TVNZ etc). Still waiting for RNZ (whom I’ve been very fond of – in parts) to apologise for all the incompetent commentators they subjected us to throughout both BREXIT and the US Election. (Coincidentally, just listening to a reporter asking Bernie about this mental health stuff. Bernie to his credit said the media should be very careful.)

          • Alan Wilkinson

             /  February 24, 2017

I suspect this rubbish tells us a good deal more about the proponents’ mental health than Trump’s. I put it in the pile of stuff that is too stupid to worry about.

      • Gezza

         /  February 24, 2017

Well. they’re qualified to give an assessment and they make a reasonable case for their diagnosis in that clip. I guess paranoid psychopathic narcissist isn’t that bad. :/

They’re not saying he’s a serial killer like some other candidate I could mention who was basically accused of that by some of her opponents. Only a serial liar – like he said some other candidate was. They explain the reasons & evidence for their diagnosis. The thing about psychiatrists though is: they talk to criminals, they use drugs, they know rapists, and some of them – I assume – are 🐻 good people.

They could be right. Might be dangerous. Or they might be wrong. Have to wait and see. Reading some of the summaries of psych reports in sentencing notes posted here from time to time shows the pros disagree a lot on exact diagnoses.

Meantime, I’m just watching & enjoying the world’s biggest most popular reality tv show and wondering who’ll get sent home next. 😀

Have to say, I do feel that my choice of thumbnail pic for Trumpy is a corker. It should appeal to those for, against, and totally disconnected from his election as POTUS, and that pic alone I feel should be worth more than just two upticks. 👍

      Just saying.

You remind me of the hitchhiker I didn’t pick up this morning because I had two dogs in the ute cab that he couldn’t see. I left him waving his thumb sadly like you.

It’s a nice pic of Trumpy, but it doesn’t square with the lack of a Twit on offer today so close but no cigar. Maybe tomorrow.

He can’t bullet-proof his head. Well, he could, I suppose, if he wore ‘armour’. It would need to cover head, face and neck. I know that when people shoot to kill, they go for the torso as it’s the largest area and static, unlike the limbs, but a good shot could go for the head. Look at Kennedy.

We’ll never know what was behind that, I suppose, but I’d be surprised if it was as simple as it was made out to be at the time-and I do suspect that Oswald was the mug who was dropped in it.

  4. Joe Bloggs

     /  February 24, 2017

A voice of reason speaks out.

Retired admiral William McRaven, former commander of the Joint Special Operations Command and later the US Special Operations Command defends the importance of free and independent media and warns that Trump’s attack on the press as an enemy of the American people “may be the greatest threat to democracy in my lifetime”.

    http://dailytexanonline.com/2017/02/22/mcraven-backs-journalists-stresses-value-of-communication-in-moody-talk

There’s a huge difference between legitimately criticising the press and characterising them as an ‘enemy of the people’. When you start silencing outlets that critique your leadership then you’re well on the way to a dictatorship.

    • High Flying Duck

       /  February 24, 2017

Name one outlet that has been silenced?
It amuses me when people vociferously and sometimes violently protest about their free speech being taken away – without any repercussions or issues.
The has been no curbing of free speech and no indication whatsoever that any is coming.
DT doesn’t like many of the press, and it is not hard to see why. They report through a filter of DT = Wrong on everything he says and does.
A comparison contrasting reporting on DT vs Obama where their actions are aligned would be interesting.
The Donald freely expresses this frustration, while the press freely carry on reporting as they see fit.

The only curbing of free speech that has been going on is the silencing of right wing views on University campuses through violent protest and boycotts.

      • Joe Bloggs

         /  February 24, 2017

Stop your diversions – this is not about the curbing of free speech per se. It’s about the pathetic attempts by Trump’s administration to villainise media outlets that criticise him…Trump has framed the media as the enemy of the American people, yet the backbone of democracy is a free press and an independent judiciary.

It’s bizarre that you suggest somehow right wing trolls like Milo Yiannopolous are the victims of bullying through violent porotests and boycotts, when it seems pretty clear that everything that happened to him was as a result of his own artless provocations.

As for reporting through a filter of DT = wrong on everything he says and does, well suck it up snowflake. The fault lies not with the press but with the pathological liar, and he hates being called to account for his lies.

        • High Flying Duck

           /  February 24, 2017

Not sure where you’re getting snowflake from – especially from someone who professes not to like ad homs.

Looking from an objective basis, Trump was elected on a policy platform which he has been entirely consistent with since the election. His speaking style and delivery have not changed.
The only snowflakes are those who publish churlish hissy fit stories, still trying to fight an election which is well and truly over.
It is almost impossible to point to an article or clip on the issue as almost every news source is partisan in some way. This is not Trumps doing – it has been so since the primaries.

Trump has framed SOME in the media as fake news. If he’s as ridiculous as you think he is, the public will disagree and will take the news at face value.

But there is a reason less and less people have confidence in the quality of information the newspapers and the media provide, and it ain’t because Trump said so.

As for University clamp downs on free speech it is far bigger than just Milo.

This is the Milo protester from Berkeley – she is truly frightening in her views:

But there was also protesters at the University of Minnesota shouting down the Israeli ambassador (having given the president of Iran a fair audience).

And the ex-Provost from Stanford (this has been posted before):

          http://news.stanford.edu/2017/02/21/the-threat-from-within/

I can’t be bothered getting more – but the fact the liberal echo chamber is only permissive of free speech that adheres to their world view is not exactly shock news.

          • Joe Bloggs

             /  February 24, 2017

You are trying some Trumpian re-facting there, HFD. I didn’t profess to not liking ad homs, just said they’re mere trifles…

            • High Flying Duck

               /  February 24, 2017

Fair enough. When you have no argument…
              You said:
“When you start silencing outlets that critique your leadership…”
So I asked you to name an outlet silenced and suddenly that is diversion.
              Talk about alternative facts!
And then Milo brought the violence on to…well it wasn’t him attacked by those rabid protesters was it. But that seemed fine by you until AW pointed out your hypocrisy and now he doesn’t deserve the violence.

I’m sure you are a man of principle. And if we don’t like them you have more.

        • Alan Wilkinson

           /  February 24, 2017

Bait and switch. It was about curbing free speech. Now it suddenly isn’t. You are choc full of b.s. Domestic violence is indefensible even if provoked but violence against Milo isn’t? Trump hates being called to account for his lies (often arguable) but the media has a free rein to exaggerate and abuse. The media is the enemy of the policies Trump was elected to implement. Suck it up, snowflakes.

        • PDB

           /  February 24, 2017

So it’s OK for the press to say Trump is an enemy of the people but Trump isn’t allowed to say the press is the enemy of the people? Funny logic there Bloggs………

          • Joe Bloggs

             /  February 24, 2017

Nup, the logic is impeccable PDB. You see the press are correct, whereas Trumpy is a liar and a bullshit artiste par excellence…

  5. Thats a bit rich JB when your initial comment was pure ad hominen in purpose? Are you asserting that the US and NZ MSM have not been unbalanced in their reports? I have read a number of reports from the Rust Belt where people are spelling out the positive things that are happening in the US, and these comments are from different people representing all walks of life, I have yet to read any of this type of reports from the MSM and that is why I accuse them of bias being captured by the so-called liberal progressive socialist ideology that has reached its expiry date, as shown by Brexit and Trump. Hopefully our balance will be restored here in NZ without a similar disruption to our unique culture.

Well it’s bloody lucky Hillary didn’t get in then, isn’t it!

    • This has just been published by The Hill on the internet
      .
      “IMMIGRATION POLL.
An overwhelming majority of Americans believe that cities that arrest illegal immigrants for crimes should be required to turn them over to federal authorities.

The poll shows that President Trump has broad public support in his effort to crack down on sanctuary cities.

A survey from Harvard–Harris Poll provided exclusively to The Hill found that 80 percent of voters say local authorities should have to comply with the law by reporting to federal agents the illegal immigrants they come into contact with.

As it stands, hundreds of cities across the nation — many with Democratic mayors or city councils — are refusing to do so.
Trump has signed an executive order directing Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly to find ways to starve these sanctuary cities of federal funding. A Reuters analysis found the top 10 sanctuary cities in the U.S. receive $2.27 billion in federal funding for programs ranging from public health services to early childhood education.

Kelly is expected to hire thousands of new immigration enforcement agents with broad authority to detain and deport those in the country illegally, potentially setting up a showdown between the federal government and sanctuary cities.

The Harvard–Harris Poll survey found strong support for an overhaul of the nation’s immigration laws, with 77 percent saying they support comprehensive immigration reform against only 23 percent who oppose.

“While there is broad support for comprehensive immigration reform, there is overwhelming opposition to sanctuary cities,” said Harvard–Harris co-director Mark Penn. “The public wants honest immigrants treated fairly and those who commit crimes deported and that’s very clear from the data.”

The finding is one of several in the survey that show Trump has support for some of the controversial immigration proposals that were a hallmark of his campaign.”

The poll showed 52% in favour from the 88% of respondents who claimed knowledge of the policy.

I don’t buy it, reason being I’ve told him I’m going to drop that picture every time he says Civil War, so it can’t be fishing but if it is it’s shooting them in a barrel with dynamite.

I know how you feel AC. Calling it a civil war is just ridiculous. For starters no one’s shooting real bullets at each other. With leaks etc it’s probly closer to a palace coup (& even that analogy’s shaky), and with the msm & Trump it’s more of a *handbags at dawn* or a scragging situation.

Absolutely preposterous, what’s next – the Catholic Church is a haven for pedophiles ?

        • Kitty Catkin

           /  February 24, 2017

It isn’t, of course. The % of priests accused is smaller than the % of men in general who are accused. It IS preposterous. But there will always be the prurient minded who want to believe these things.

          • MaureenW

             /  February 24, 2017

It is in fact. Known pedophiles within the CC were just moved around only If there was pressure applied. Known pedophiles given access to children, their crimes covered up – a haven.

            • Kitty Catkin

               /  February 24, 2017

Paedophiles, not pedophiles.. WERE is the operative word-it was believed that this would stop them. That was then, this is now. The numbers are stll tiny but it makes headlines when Fr X is accused, not when Mr X is. Do you think that the Education Dept is a haven for paedophiles because there have been some teachers who have been accused and charged ? Or the Scouts ? Or sports coaching ? Or show business-Gary Glitter, Jimmy Saville et al ?

Haven is a very tired cliche.

         /  February 24, 2017

        That doesn’t mean that he’s a paedophile.

The old cliche about smoke and fire is hardly evidence of anything. Many people have had things said about them-this doesn’t mean that they are true. To be accused is not the same as being guilty. My husband was accused of fraud. He hadn’t done it-he had supposedly been paid twice for the same thing by two government departments but.the mistake was theirs, lack of communication. No fire with that smoke (but it was certainly a great lesson to me that one should keep papers for a reasonable time as he used to)

  12. So how many of you have read this following comment, and don’t get me started on the huge amount of evidence of very unpleasant claims in this area. For example:
Read more at “http://wonkette.com/608246/wikileaks-pretty-sure-hillary-clinton-is-a- child-sex-trafficker-now-it-is-just-obvious#rQ8oQaj5x2WKcPsv.99” or alternatively:

“Well, it looks like the lid is just about to be blown off Hillary Clinton’s involvement with a known child trafficker, thanks to a partnership between Wikileaks and the brave detectives of a rabid pro-Donald Trump group on Reddit. Seriously, they’ve really got the goods on Clinton this time. The evidence is indisputable, at least if you’re a complete idiot.

Thursday, the Wikileaks Twitter account linked to an entry on the slobbery pro-Trump Reddit forum /r/The_Donald; the Wikileaks Tweet described the Reddit thread as a “Significant, if partisan, find showing how the Clintons supported child stealer Laura Silsby,” complete with a screen capture of part of the main post in the thread (our screencap is a little bigger):

    image: https://img.wonkette.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/Reddit-Clinton-Silsby.jpg

    reddit-clinton-silsby

“That’s heavy stuff! Connections between Hillary Clinton and a “convicted child abductor” who was caught stealing children from Haiti, almost certainly for evil purposes! And just look at the intense interest Hillary and her cabal took in getting those sicko pervs released! So let’s take a look at just how nefarious this all is! You might remember the basics: after the 2010 earthquake, a group of 10 American Baptist missionaries were arrested at the border of the Dominican Republic as they tried to cross with 33 children who they said were orphaned by the earthquake. On further investigation, it turned out that most of the kids actually had parents back in Haiti, some of whom had tearfully given their kids to the missionaries in hopes they’d have a better life. The missionaries were initially charged with kidnapping and criminal association, but ultimately all charges against the Americans were dropped except for those against the group’s leader, Laura Silsby. Silsby was charged by a Haitian court with child abduction and conspiracy, but those charges were eventually reduced to “arranging irregular travel.” She was convicted, sentenced to time already served, and returned to the USA.

So, how was Hillary Clinton part of this, and where’s the child sex trafficking? Mostly in the fevered imaginations of the excitable internet detectives of r/The_Donald, who decided that since Clinton discussed the case in emails with Huma Abedin and other aides, she was going out of her way to help the child abductors escape justice. This leaves out one tiny detail: as secretary of State, Clinton’s job was to help American citizens arrested in other countries. Huma emailed her articles about the case, and from there, Reddit decided that can only mean they’re all child traffickers trading children all over the world for sex slaves, and probably hitching rides on Jeffrey Epstein’s sex plane, too. As far as any real connections between Clinton and Silsby beyond the official work of monitoring what’s going on with Americans arrested in a high-profile news story, there’s bupkis — feel free to look at the shocking evidence linked at Reddit yourself.

For that matter, while it certainly looks like Silsby was running a seriously half-assed “mission,” it’s not clear whether she was just incredibly naive or up to something hinky; the only evidence of potential hinkiness is that the Dominican guy who initially offered to serve as the missionaries’ legal advisor in Haiti, Jorge Puello, was wanted on sex trafficking charges in El Salvador; after that news (and the fact that he wasn’t really a lawyer) came out, several of the Americans said no thanks, we’ll get real lawyers. But hey, that makes him associated with Hillary Clinton!

Also, in the Reddit discussion that followed, one poster linked to an “investigation” titled “Mountain of Original Research for a Massive International Pedophile Ring,” with even more devastating proof that Hillary was right in the middle of a crew of international sex traffickers, except for the minor detail that as far as we can tell from a quick search, the name “Clinton” isn’t even mentioned in that mountain of “evidence,” which also touches on lurid stories of Satanic Ritual Abuse. But hey, it’s in the Reddit thread, so now it’s “connected” — by Occam’s Duct Tape.

Parts of the ASTONISHING REVELATIONS are making it into “the media,” if by “media” you mean the not especially truthy conspiracy website True Pundit, which claims, based on “sources,” that the NYPD has looked at the emails on Anthony Weiner’s laptop computer and found all sorts of evidence of Clinton’s “involvement” in

    Money laundering
    Child exploitation
    Sex crimes with minors (children)
    Perjury
Pay to play through Clinton Foundation
    Obstruction of justice
    Other felony crimes
As usual with anything published at True Pundit, there are no named sources, no links to anything verifiable, and for that matter, not even any mention of the supposedly incriminating stuff from Reddit. The Silsby case also gets a mention in a breathless article by conspiracy aficionado Mike Cernovich claiming John Podesta’s leaked emails prove Hillary Clinton’s “inner circle” is a SEX CULT WITH CONNECTIONS TO HUMAN TRAFFICKING. A bunch of other obscure rightwing blogs have also picked up the shocking Reddit story, too. And maybe conspiracy theory clearinghouse WND is on it, as well; a few days ago, it promised that the “biggest scandal in U.S. history” would be revealed any minute now, although that story appears to be more about an unverifiable claim Huma Abedin sent all the classified information in the world to Anthony Weiner’s laptop — there’s nothing there about the supposed Haitian child trafficking scandal that didn’t actually involve any children being trafficked (they were returned to their parents) or Hillary Clinton doing anything other than her job of keeping track of Americans accused of crimes in other countries. After talking it over, Yr Wonkette has decided not to call the Clinton campaign for comment on whether Hillary is a child sex trafficker. Yes, we’re participating in the coverup.

All in all, we should expect to hear a lot more of this nonsense in the more frantic corners of the Wingnuttosphere. It looks like some really solid police work from the type of amateur Reddit sleuths who completely screwed the pooch in accusing a bunch of completely innocent people of being the Boston Marathon bombers.

Sorry for putting this out there, but it is relevant to the integrity of some of the claims on both sides of the US political spectrum. I certainly do not know where the truth is at and would like to be on a tribunal able to interrogate the actors in this ?parody.
