  2. Between approx 6.10 – 6.15am this morning an object travelled very fast across the Far North skies, going approximately [true] North-to-South. There was no sound. Difficult to ascertain height, or size by naked eye view only, although it seemed to be going through the high cloud … and it had a VERY BRIGHT light that appeared to pulse on-and-off, though not perfectly regularly … When ON the light was far brighter than any visible star, of which there were plently at that time … It took maybe 20 – 30 seconds to traverse the visible sky …

    My first UFO sighting …

Similar sightings over the last few days Up North here apparently …

I wonder if there’s been confirmed sightings over *Waikato* by any chance ❓

Get a grip, Partisan Z. The Skeptics would say you were seeing marsh gas reflecting off the upper atmosphere. My guess: it was the Aurora in anti-gravity mode. The Aurora was back engineered from the Roswell saucer crash according to Bob Lazar. Case solved.

Nothing to worry about PZ, most likely that ‘bright light’ was your ‘white guilt’ growing ever brighter, or alternatively you were seeing the rise of Jacinda Ardern.

@PZ Sounds as if you may have seen the ISS

Annette King is stepping down and Andrew Little is nominating Ardern to replace King as Deputy Leader.

An interesting changing of the guard that exposes Ardern to a little more sunlight than she’s had previously

    • Missy

       /  March 1, 2017

      Wow, flip flop from King.

December 2016 – She will contest next election
March 2017 – She will retire from Parliament

Feb 27 – won’t step aside as Deputy Leader for Ardern (didn’t she call the suggestion ‘ageist’?)
Mar 1 – stepping aside as Deputy Leader

Not sure I want to visit France now – can’t even trust their police snipers to do the job properly.

Two people shot by accident during President’s speech by a Police Sniper. Ah well, at least they weren’t killed, but it wasn’t even a case of mistaken identity, it appears that the gun discharged accidentally.

I think I will be keeping a closer eye on the UK armed police around just in case…..

Maybe I should just ask them if their safety catches are on correctly before walking past them.

On a more serious not, I am not sure how this happened, the armed police in Britain and Brussels that I have seen all walk with the muzzle of the weapon pointing towards the ground, obviously the police in France do not.

It might have been what neighbours and I once saw-it was a classic UFO shape ! it moved to and fro across the sky and we couldn’t think what it was. It was a searchlight or spotlight at least 35 km away, but there was no beam visible to make it obvious. We didn’t really think that it was a UFO, but the prosaic explanation was a letdown. I am still surprised that we could see it at that distance and that it was that shape and not a circle..

I will never say that there’s no life on other planets-how can any of us possibly know what’s out there ? But I don’t think that it’s little green men.

       /  March 2, 2017

Dunno about that, Missy. I saw a report that the French sniper shot himself in the foot and was hopping around cursing.

Ardern gets to be Labour DP. Will make the next lot of polls very interesting. If nothing shifts come Sept then will Ardern suddenly find that she has “new and exciting opportunities outside of parliament to purse ” or will she keep Mt Albert and just become more Labour deadwood?

    • PDB

       /  March 1, 2017

I think Ardern being deputy will do bugger all when Little is the one that could become PM. The next poll may see Ardern outpolling Little as preferred PM which would be embarrassing.

      • artcroft

         /  March 1, 2017

And thus a large risk. And as Pete has pointed out, the media wanted this change and pushed for it. If Jacinda out polls Little they would fall all over themselves demanding party coup against Little.

maybe the could follow Greens lead & become CO-Leaders ? 😀

        • PDB

           /  March 1, 2017

The problem of course is the Greens can do that as they won’t be PM – can’t see CO-PM’s being welcomed.

             /  March 1, 2017

Wrong place-how did that happen ?

The accidental shooting is a thin excuse-guns don’t go off that easily. And twice ? Yeah, right. Oops, tu es mort par la ? Tant pis pour toi.

When I first saw armed soldiers at Heathrow during the Troubles, they were on platforms and and had their fingers on the trigger ! The only problem being that anyone who was in the way would have been shot, too. These were machine guns.

I still remember running after a Heathrow worker who’d dropped a large bunch of important looking keys which I returned to him. Instead of thanking me, he snatched them and abused me as if it was my fault that he’d lost them. 😀 Ungrateful bugger, serve him right if they’d fallen into the wrong hands.

Im confused about farrars blog, someone posted this as if it was done under labor but maybe nick smith or paula can explain,.The alt right on kiwiblog get huffy and puffy but national runs the show and money…wondering

Homeless family charged $2200 a week for South Auckland motel
    http://www.stuff.co.nz/auckland/89779460/homeless-family-charged-2200-a-week-for-south-auckland-motel.
“Work and Income is paying $2200 a week for Rastaman and Tuaine Murray and their disabled 12-year-old son Kaya to stay at a motel in Otahuhu until they find suitable long-term accommodation”.

They abandoned their last state house when armed men showed up demanding money from good old Rastaman and since then have soaked up $29000 in accommodation grants.
What a sick joke welfare is in this country.

What I enjoy most about having children, is the funny things they share with me. I got home from work today, and my youngest two were in fits of laughter in front of the TV, watching youtube.
“What’s so funny?”, I asked them.
Mr 10 told me, “You have to watch this Dad!”
    Enjoy…. 😀

Bloody kids! Just watched it again, after putting on my ‘grumpy face’, & telling those who were still up to “Piss off & get some sleep”. It’s really hard to wear a frown, after watching that video… 😀
      Bedtime for me…

I’m off, since the lotto numbers didn’t quite match, I have to be at work at 7am.
I showed Patu Jr the other way to play this, a few nights ago. His eyes were wide open, as was his mouth, watching a talented guitarist, ‘grab treble notes from above’….
So here’s the easy way to do it….

And here is the harder way, that looks much better…
