MediaWatch

Media Watch is a focus on New Zealand media, blogs and social media. You can post any items of interested related to media.

A primary aim here is to hold media to account in the political arena. A credible and questioning media is an essential part of a healthy democracy.

A general guideline – post opinion on or excerpts from and links to blog posts or comments of interest, whether they are praise, criticism, pointing out issues or sharing useful information.

As usual avoid anything that could cause any legal issues such as potential defamation or breaching suppression orders. Also remember that keeping things civil, legal and factual is more effective and harder to argue against or discredit.

To anyone who doubts the level of asian investment in auckland’s property market, the Bruce Mason theatre on auction day is quite a revelation

When the China FTA was been negotiated they wanted to pay Chinese rates using Chinese labour on their own projects here.
Didn’t get to the final draft but it’s been happening by stealth.
Student workers in Chinese restaurants whose most clientele are not Chinese yet the ad calls for Mandarin speakers , Chinese engineers on the introduction of the new trains etc etc.

Yes Noel that is a sneaky way of saying, “Only Chinese need apply”
I mean, how many people would speak Chinese in little ole Opotiki
not many if any … the person would be talking to himself and his/her boss only.

    Butt wait there’s more…
“who will legalise the chemical dissolution of the dead?”
Instead of burying or burning a dead body we will soon be able to melt the flesh of the bone with ….alkaline hydrolysis.

No no….KTH has been keeping me abreast of all this crap Pants. It’s not the first and certainly wont be that last 😄 Given the increased *advertising and subscription revenue* Kates has generated for the publication since jumping ship, the insurance premiums are a pittance for the organisation. If only we had journalists with the same balls in this country ❓

The award is a lot less than the costs by the look of it. The lawyers are the big winners.
