What Billy dosn’t want is a Maori treaty claim for ownership of NZ water in election year.

Billy will do his talking at election time, Lurchy. For your sake lets hope he wins, because if he doesn’t you will really know what hot air coming through a TV screen sounds like.

Bit light on detail there Lurchy. Should I be watching 1Ewes on the plus + freeview channel @ 7 pm to see him panicking?

“The Government has asked a group of experts to look into whether to introduce a charge for water exports, following a public outcry.

Prime Minister Bill English says “growing public concern” is behind the decision, after protests around the country and a petition calling for a moratorium on bottled water exports.

At his weekly media conference, English said the Government was writing to the Ministry for the Environment’s water allocation technical advisory group, asking it to consider “the issues around exporting water”.”

Billy’s a bright boy, Lurchy. However, you will need to wait for your next stage in evolution to understand why. That stage will be after the general election.

David Parker said on 1Ewes the matter’s simple. Foreign buyers of water should just pay the government a royalty. They already do for oil & minerals so just add water to the existing legislation.

Fiji charge 15c a litre to Fiji water. The Govt stick to the party line, no one owns water….Judith/Oravida love it,other foreign Natz party donors ..love it,farmers love it….but they forgot to tell ratepayers that ..Water is..FREE….so funny…the Natz philosophy was…user pays!NZ for sale…apply Nat Party H.Q…with your donations.

They stick to the government line because they are scared of Maori sticking their big brown noses in where they don’t belong….that was confirmed on TV tonight.

@Corky…get real,Maori like Tuwharetoa have access to water, but not the finance/contacts to export it.Their so called ‘big brown noses’ most definately belong there.Charge like in Fiji, every NZ ‘er benefits, not just the National Party coffers.

No probs. Just charge the royaly, argue about divvying it up or whether it’s already being allocated fairly through the budget afterward. Whoever makes the water owns it. It’s just that when they give it to all of us, through rain & snowfall, we are getting the government to collect a royalty & put it into the public purse for giving it away.

A legend reaches a century today. Dame Vera Lynn turns 100, and she is the first centenarian to have an album in the top 10 of the music charts.
