Sweden enacted a law this year banning face covering in public, however, face coverings as religious dress is exempt. The law is aimed at hooligans who cover their face to evade detection. So far it is working well, a group of football hooligans known as the Ultras turned up at a game in Niqabs with a sign saying ‘Thanks for the loophole’.
This shows that if a Government wants to ban one type of face covering they really should ban all – or those that the bans are aimed at will take advantage of the loophole created.
