    Interesting….
    http://www.nzherald.co.nz/sport/news/article.cfm?c_id=4&objectid=11835009

Blues assistant coach Steve Jackson said he was surprised by the act and his team would be addressing it with Williams’ management this week.

“The sponsors pay our wages and you look to do everything you can to make them happy, so I’m not really sure what occurred or what’s really happened,” Jackson told Newstalk ZB’s Tony Veitch.

I’m with Steve Jackson on this one. Whether SBW covers the logo or not, the BNZ are still paying part of his salary.

An NZR spokesperson has told Newstalk ZB’s Tony Veitch that Williams had lodged a conscientious objection. Any player could lodge such an objection to promoting finance, alcohol, tobacco, gambling companies and banks.

If one has genuine moral objections to being sponsored by any of the abpve, perhaps being a professional sportsperson isn’t the best career choice. Just saying…

A BNZ spokeswoman said the bank had no issue with their logo being covered up.

“It’s really between him and the Blues – we’ve got no issue with it,” she said.

“He’s entitled to have religious beliefs and customs around that and it’s really between him and the Blues as to how that manifests itself. So we have no issue with it.”

IMHO they should reduce their sponsorship by 1/15th. It seems only fair.

      From the link:

“SBW has not declared why he covered up the logo but speculation is rife it relates to his Muslim faith, which is opposed to gathering interest on fees on loans.”

Heh. Someone should tell Sonny Boy that Muslim banks do charge interest fees – they just call it different names.

Let’s face it…SBW is nothing more than a media whoar ❗ You can bet Coda would be all over this for the headlines…he knows the *Blues* will never make front page news the way they play.

And Wayne reckins just drop him anyway…., people like this wont be happy until they see *Sharia law* introduced…this is just the thin edge of the wedge 😡

It’s the Streisand Effect. Rest assured no one would be talking about BNZ if he’s left it visible.

Thanks for that Nelly, not my neighborhood, but I’ve text’d a mate who lives over those ways, to give him a ‘heads up’.

This one is scarily close. Another victim almost claimed by Darwin….

Skip to 0:38 if you’re an impatient sort.

Morons. One near us has an automatic gate that closes when the bells start & opens when the train has passed. Fatalities down here have included suicides. The drivers are shattered.
