  2. THE BATTLE FOR AL RAQQA CAPITAL OF ISIS: CURRENT SITUATION. A joint force have now successfully captured the Tabqa Dam and the Tabqa Airbase as at the end of March and in addition have laid siege to the township of Tabqa and cut the road to Al Raqqa.
This is strangling the ISIS fighters logistically, and the joint force have beaten off two attempts by the ISIS forces to break out.
Nevertheless, this means the Joint force has only got 20 kilometres to go to Al Raqqa, and you can be sure that Joint Force Special Forces are already sniffing the defences around Al Raqqa. as the preliminary for what will be one of the nastiest battles in Syria.
The Joint Forces Khurdish YPD fighters who have born the brunt of the infantry task are supported by US Marine Artillery as well as Apache Gunships and Special Forces (SAS and US) Forward Air Controllers are providing direct targeting support to the joint forces on call.
The YPD have indicated their intention to get the Tabqa Airfield operational again as see it as an essential element in the build up to the attack on Al Raqqa. This raises huge political problems to both Turkey and Iran whose Hisbullah troops are part of the anti ISIS fighters. They do not want the Kurds to have control. So delays in political support o the operation continuing can be expected. It should be an interesting few weeks ahead, and has to be a consideration in any Russian freedom of action to respond to the US missile strike last week .

      • AC Yes, its been going on for weeks, but the summary was published on1 April 2017 by Lima Charlie and it does set the stage for the battle for Raqqa in a fairly coherent way. The reports are by specialists in the counter-insurgency area. You are free to discard it as always. Sarin gas is not the only thing going on in Syria and how much pressure is being put on NZSAS to join the fight? US, UK, Aust, Danish, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kurdish Forces. Iran and Hezbollah are all on side.

      • Here is a bit more information that helps illustrate the significance of the battle for Raqqa:
        http://www.marketoracle.co.uk/Article58478.html
This explains the geographical fact of how difficult the battle will be. It forecasts 50% casualties on the part of the attacking force (the Goodies). Mean time ISIS are exacting discipline by hanging people from power poles “pour encouragier les autres”. Arabs really hate each other don’t they?

First caller on the show, I should have been more specific. How did I know it was a Leftie? His voice. Interestingly, when the talkback host( Jenny Anderson) apologised to him, he seemed nonplussed. I guess he’s had plenty of similar comments thrown his way over the years. Being rich hasn’t helped.

        Didn’t know that. Details:

The takeover offer for Lion Nathan could be dubbed “the revenge of the minority New Zealand shareholder”.

This title is apt because there have been a number of transactions involving the company where minority shareholders have felt they have been poorly treated by directors.

But the shoe is now on the other foot as the directors who jumped the queue and sold out to Kirin in 1998 have missed out on a staggering $1.149 billion, with former chief executive and chairman Doug Myers forgoing $857 million.

The biggest disappointment is New Zealand investors will obtain limited benefits from the Kirin offer as we now only own 4.3 per cent of the company.

On this blog we have Parti ,whom blames all of Maoridoms woes on colonialism, forgetting, of course, Maori practised the murderous protocols of rule by conquest and might is right.

These ladies( men included) and the queer professor need to be dropped off in a black neighbourhood, the ones they profess to care deeply about, and hardened the fugg up.

I’ve got Pooky & Bluebell popping up to the fence for a little snack on wheat twice a day now. I had up to 10 mallard hens & ducks coming up too. Most of them waddle up the steep bank thru the ground cover. But I’m down to only four mallard regulars now. Judes & Gerry chase all the others off. They just duck their heads down & charge them, unbelievable to watch. They grab their feathers & pull them out. Duck down flies everywhere.

Charlie took Gerry on one day. They both had hold of each others’ feathers & were throwing each other around. Gerry won – he’s too big for Charlie – he had to fly back down to the stream. Prettygirl & Brucie still come up but they have enough clues to check out where those two bruisers are and fly up on the opposite side of the compost bin. I have to run along the fenceline & feed them quickly in separate places, because Judes is such a nasty little piec of work she finishes her allocation & dashes up the line to monster them & grab theirs. I gave her the broom one day, but it didn’t stop her. I blame the parents.

Both Judes & Gerry have had a go at Pooky, but only once. Now they just leave him to peck his share up unmolested.

Another stunning (and warm) day in London today.

Yesterday it made it to 21 with blue skies, today it is expected to make it to 22. It is currently 8am and 11. And it is only early April!! Just hoping this isn’t the summer, but rather the start of things to come.

I have been spring cleaning this weekend, windows opened and sunshine coming in, I did manage a walk on the Common yesterday, and am looking forward to another walk there today… or maybe along the river.
