Media Watch is a focus on New Zealand media, blogs and social media. You can post any items of interested related to media.

A primary aim here is to hold media to account in the political arena. A credible and questioning media is an essential part of a healthy democracy.

A general guideline – post opinion on or excerpts from and links to blog posts or comments of interest, whether they are praise, criticism, pointing out issues or sharing useful information.

As usual avoid anything that could cause any legal issues such as potential defamation or breaching suppression orders. Also remember that keeping things civil, legal and factual is more credible and effective.

    Aljazeera News

Powerful bomb blasts strike packed Coptic Christian churches in Tanta and Alexandria, in an assault claimed by ISIL. More Middle East bloodlust from the usual suspects.

Totally agree G. The mere thought of ‘Sir Al’, in all his wrinkly naked glory, is enough to put anyone off their late evening snack. I hope that he never has to escape from a housefire, not for his sake though. I’m thinking of the poor firefighters, who may well need counselling afterwards… 😀

You sad denizens of the Antarctic regions of the country have no understanding of the simple pleasures of the winterless north. But rejoice! Climate change is bringing you happiness – if more slowly than Griff hopes.

TBH Alan, I sleep ‘in the buff’ too, but always keep my ‘undies’ on one foot, ‘just in case’… 😀

I never sleep. Just ask Missy. 😳

A likely story, patu. Your long-suffering wife deserves better than a man with a pair of undies at the bottom of the bed.

Don’t need to. I don’t sleep either, but have to go to work during the day… 😉

Well excuse me Alan, was that a slur on my good character??? Please elaborate, if you will….

I am less than impressed Alan. Please elaborate on why my wife is ‘long suffering’, and why she deserves better. Or just admit you fucked up. Last chance.

Why not just on a chair, patu, or next to the bed if you are worried about visitors in the bedroom?

Sharing a bed with your undies would count as suffering to me, patu. But sorry if I’ve offended you in jest. Nothing serious intended.

Upon reflection Alan, I took that the wrong way. Perhaps you should reflect upon your comment, to understand why. I don’t imagine you’d be terribly impressed, if I said that to you.

People often call my family long-suffering, patu, and I take it in jest so adding you to the number doing it wouldn’t make much difference. Only you and I know what happens in our relationships so there is no need to worry about what anyone else might think or say. Maybe I just have a thick skin in that regard. Cheers and good night.

I’m guessing that is as close to an apology as ‘Sir Alan’ will ever come. I accept it. BTW Alan, GFY 😀

I’ll take that in the spirit I prefer to think it was meant. And I don’t promise not to annoy you again. Cheers again.

  5. Al-Jz had a news item.. Canada is about to start law reforms, to legalise recreational cannabis, (med-use has been legal there, since 2001) as promised by PM Justin Trudeau in his election campaign. A spokesperson said about $7-10bil/year currently goes to black-market (?), much of it could be taken over & taxed in a legal, regulated market. Creating employment too.
A ‘Green rush’ about to begin.. come on Aotearoa/NZ the ‘writings on the wall’; prohibition is a total failure & its time to get with the program folks ! 🙂
