Media watch – Thursday

13 April 2017

Media Watch is a focus on New Zealand media, blogs and social media. You can post any items of interested related to media.

A primary aim here is to hold media to account in the political arena. A credible and questioning media is an essential part of a healthy democracy.

A general guideline – post opinion on or excerpts from and links to blog posts or comments of interest, whether they are praise, criticism, pointing out issues or sharing useful information.

As usual avoid anything that could cause any legal issues such as potential defamation or breaching suppression orders. Also remember that keeping things civil, legal and factual is more credible and effective.

    Aljaz tv:

    Julie Macdonald

advises that Russia has vetoed a UN Security Council resolution condemning the use of chemical weapons by Syria. Bolivia also voted against the resolution.

Broadcasting live from the UN, Aljaz showed the Russian UN ambassador Aljaz explaining that the vote was taken before there had been an independent UN investigation into who was responsible & that the United States had illegally attacked a sovereign state having unilaterally concluded that government of Syria was responsible.

The UN ambassadors of Britain, France & the United States were then shown complaining.

WOW…..this would be absolutely yuge for *Megyn* if she landed this gig ❗

TBH, I *really miss* seeing Megyn’s intelligent and probing interviews since she quit *FOX*……I often found the way she did her hair was quite inspirational.

Aljaz tv is now showing live a press conference by Donald Trump & Jens Stoltenberg Secretary General of North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). Trump has just finished explaining he is disappointed the Russian “cannot get along with NATO & the US, that President Xi is a nice man & that we will see if Xi is going to go along with various ideas of his, and that by the time Trump has finished the the world will be a much nicer place – I kid you not – he said this. Also he said that General Mattis is looking into whether Russia knew that Syria intended to use weapons so we will soon find out.

It is a very significant press conference and I look forward to seeing the video of the entire conference as well as a transcript of his utterings & responses to questions. I missed some of it while feeding a very pleasant & polite pukeko.

    Questions are still being answered.

Trump says that if other countries like China are not effective in controlling bad behaviour by the governments of North Korea & Syria “we will be effective, I promise you that”.

I read in the ODT-online.. that 3 foreign tourists, broke down with 2 flat tyres in Wanaka. 2 cops ‘passing by’ stopped to ‘offer assistance’ BUT they got more than they expected. The cops reportedly ‘smelled cannabis coming from the vehicle’ (as they always seem to do) & arrested them with ‘cannabis for supply’. They are due to appear in Q’town court.

“Welcome tourists to NZ, your BUSTED !” sez ‘the prohibition industry’

Yes Gripping Stuff all right Gezza.
Do you think it’s going to be the mother of wars next?

Meanwhile we and the skools are fighting the consequences of that life changer ‘P’ methamphetamine
How are we going to correct this plague, that Robs whole communities of wellness.

Butt wait, over yonder. There are men playing with our lives … will it all be over soon? …. No need to worry about P, E and all the rest off the drug menu.

God I wish I knew the simple answer to that problem Possum. Until there is widespread community resistance to the stuff being available & used, stopping the parents producing kids suffering from their P & E use is going to be difficult.

This needs more than just hand-wringing & screaming for more money for helping kids with drug and/or violence induced behavioural problems at schools, obviously. But what do you think is needed to reduce this scourge, as well as deal with the problems already showing up?

WharK! Blazer that creature will be sorry. His mind and soul will be tortured for what he has done … What a pack of degenerates, posing as Gods servants but in reality they were working for the opposition. May he rot in Jail.
He said “I plead guilty to all charges as presented,” Ridsdale told the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court.

Disgusting. I know what I consider an appropriate punishment. If someone was clever enough to invent the guillotine, I’m sure that a mechanical device can be invented, that performs in a similar manner to how he did, ‘back in the day’. An eye for an eye…

Gross, the number of lives this failure has tainted with his filth. If “stoning” were available, this prick should be stoned (before the guillotine)
