The sun shone

The sun came out just now in Dunedin, briefly, but it was there in the sky. For the first time for a few days. Nice to have happen on a free day. The forecast is markedly improved.

The sun shone
eventually
it always does
somewhere

Clouds come, clouds go
the sun remains beyond
and some sunlight always gets through the day

Rain or sun?
We need the sun
And rain needs sun
We need the rain

Rain can drain a sunny disposition
But lack of rain will strain our needs

The rain came
and came
and came
The sun shone on regardless

Mockery of a poet’s works is very bad manners. Or is it a hoot that Wayne thinks that he sounds like Sam Hunt ?

      • If poetry is mocked it means someone has at least seen it, which is more than often happens with poetry.

Poetry is one of the least popular forms of literature, unless it’s in kids books or has music accompanying it, both of which can be extremely popular.

I’ve written poetry for 25 years and sneaking one in here probably gives me more of an audience than the rest of what I’ve written in the past has had, combined.

This one just came out off the cuff, no real thought or reconsideration. a mocking would probably be deserved.

It’s still bad manners to jeer at someone’s work to their face.

Of course, doggerel which is sloppily written with poor scansion and no poetic sense-like that drivel of Colin Craig’s-deserves to be shredded when it’s there for all to read, It’s painful, like hearing someone sing off-key; if anyone has any kind of ear for poetry, it’s agony reading tripe like that,

          • I’m very good at singing on key – but just one key regardless of what key the song is in. And I have a truly awful singing voice. Otherwise I’m not too bad.

              There you are, then.

I can’t imagine you doing what the deleted at one concert I was at did-sing along out of time and out of tune. It would have been justifiable homicide, I am certain.

There’s an overbridge near me that has wonderful acoustics and makes the worst singer sound marvellous. What an ego trip for those of us who are less gifted in this respect. One stands in the right place and sounds like a real star. It’s great fun.

NB Why is it that one tone-deaf person in a crowd who’s out of tune put everyone else wrong, but the rest (who are in tune) can’t put the tuneless wonder right ?

The nearest overbridge to me would be the *Remuera railway station*….and I can honestly say I’ve never once been tempted to go there and sing. LOL ❗

Although a lot of people have said how FAB I am in the shower 😛

Well I hate to ask the obvious, Nelly, but exactly how many people have enjoyed ‘sharing a shower’ with you???

Blazer laughed at my poem about Muslims. But at least Pete and I write our own works…Blazer had to plagiarize someone else’s stuff… typical uncreative Leftie.

‘Garry Williams, a commercial lawyer, confirmed he had been engaged in the action, noting that it was the owners of Eminem’s song, not the artist himself, taking the action.

The National Party admitted it had received a complaint but was completely rejecting the allegation.

Campaign manager Steven Joyce said they had gone through all the necessary licensing procedures.

“We think it’s pretty legal, we think these guys are just having a crack and have a bit of an eye for the main chance because it’s an election campaign.’

‘Joyce acknowledged the party had had an issue with a Coldplay song in 2008, “but this is an entirely different thing”…Stuff…..

The latter Kitty, because I suspect that Wayne misheard Nelly’s Mum, when she told him he sounded like something that rhymes with ‘Sam hunt’… 😀

Didn’t peg you for a poet, Pete. Unfortunately I’m not so happy. I have to spark the chainsaw and deal with a fallen Puriri, two Pine trees and one Five Finger. I hate wind with a passion. Its the most destructive element in the garden.

It’s the one thing that we can do nothing about, too. Rain can be sheltered from and kept out (usually) and we can wear raincoats, sun can be enjoyed with sunblock to stop us burning, and if it’s too hot one can go in the shade or come in and turn a fan on, but that sort of destructive wind makes one feel utterly helpless. I thought that I was going to be blown out into the road a while ago, as I walked across a bridge, it was like a strong person pushing me. I had to hang onto the side and creep along !!!

Your poor trees. Say farewell from me.How I hate to see a tree dead before its time. I wept when our silk tree had to come down; it was such a lovely thing, but it split down the middle. It made walking up the front path really special as one walked under the arch of its branches.

When we had strong wind a while ago, the back door slammed and the top pane of glass shattered. It felt as if someone had grabbed it out of my hand-terrifying. The glass looked terrible held in with tape until the glass man came, of course, but the feeling of having the door seeming to be grabbed and slammed by an invisible force was totally unnerving.

My second Ake Ake seems to have carked it in the latest winds. Though it is lying down with one side still green. I might see if it wants to live that way. They seem to be susceptible to wind in my experience so if I plant any more they will have to be in sheltered spots.

TBH, we’ve never seen it *soo bad* in Auckland for ages. Wayne had to go outside in the rain *twice* yesterday to lower the pool level :/

    I have to ask,
    Quite aloud,
    About the silliness,
    That’s going around,
    With mirthful humour,
    We talk about,
    Politicians, who we doubt,
    Honest motives, do they possess?
Or do they just dumb, ‘puff their chests’
Do they truly represent the masses?
Or are they all, dumb fucking asses???
