Queen St forex broker goes under
An Auckland-based foreign exchange broker has collapsed, leaving dozens of customers owed more than $1 million facing “significant” losses.
Forex Brokers was established in 1995 and had an office in the Dingwall Building on Auckland’s Queen Street.

Liquidator Christopher McCullagh said while he had only recently been appointed and was still preparing his first report, he had been contacted by more than a dozen creditors and the amount owed was “certainly in excess of a million”.

He said the company appeared to have insufficient assets to meet claims: “It would be fair to say there’ll be a significant shortfall to creditors.” McCullagh said creditors of the company ranged from commercial operators to people sending personal savings abroad, and many had a long association with Forex Brokers.

The Herald understands customers of the company – which offered spot FX transactions, and offshore bank drafts and telegraphic transfers – ran into problems only recently. One customer told the Herald while the company had proven reliable in the past, a recent transfer of funds to China did not arrive at its destination.

A spokesman for the FMA they had received three recent complaints about Forex Brokers, but the company offered services – spot foreign exchange transactions – that did not fall under its regulatory umbrella.

and some more from the Herald today…

‘”He told me ‘We’ve got some investment opportunities, and Russell’s very clever and making healthy returns,” he said.

The creditor said there were red flags he was “naive” to have ignored in hindsight, including not have any written contracts or any regular balance updates.

“I was doing it on trust. I feel like a ****ing idiot. You should be able to trust anybody you’ve been dealing with for years,” he said.

The FMA, which has previously said Forex Brokers didn’t fall under its regulatory umbrella, expressed concern to the Herald over the characterisation of some of the losses as “investments”.

yes Forex is a gamble not an investment…..I can think of one particularly lucky…forex gambler, adored by …many.

Good Lord… it looks like they have just seen President Trumpy ”white eye” them.

  3. I just watched a story on TV news.. 3 people in Akld. totally ‘wasted’ from reportedly smoking ‘synthetic cannabis’. 2 were slouched on a bench, the other was laying on the ground.. frothing at the mouth. A passerby stopped to offer assistance, else he may have died ?

Dunne having stated Synthetic cannabis is ‘LOW RISK’ (when they temporarily legalised the CRAP, a few years ago) & the natural herb is not . I wonder whether anyone actually, still believes him ?

I’ve never seen anyone ‘high on the herb’ looking like that !!

More Total Disinfo. from this Govt.
