Buckingham Palace news underwhelming

There has been a lot of speculation about something apparently brewing  at Buckingham Palace.

The BBC has eventually reported: Buckingham Palace meeting ‘not about health of Queen or Prince Philip’

A meeting of household staff called at Buckingham Palace is not a cause for concern, the BBC understands.

The BBC’s royal correspondent Peter Hunt understands the meeting is not about the health of either the Queen or Duke of Edinburgh.

Officials at the palace have not said what this morning’s meeting, reported to involve all senior staff from across the UK, is about.

Such internal royal meetings usually happen about once a year.

The Queen and Prince Philip both fulfilled engagements on Wednesday.

The Queen met Prime Minister Theresa May at Buckingham Palace to formally agree the dissolution of parliament ahead of the general election, while Prince Philip attended Lord’s Cricket Ground to open a new stand.

Has this story grown out of all proportion relative to it’s importance?

It’s quite funny to see how much attention has been given to not yet news.

UPDATE: a 95 year old is retiring.

Son of a slug…..arise King Charles. I have a lot in common with the new King…should that be the news that is not yet the news.

Both the new king and I would share a love of organic gardening and Vitamin D supplements.
And we both believe other weird shite. That means its my duty to put Republicans to the sword. That’s if Maori don’t beat me to it..

No sane person would propose the most hated woman in Britain for any award except that one.Being a spiteful bitch is not one of the OBE criteria, nor is ridiculing children and cancer patients.

Media are saying it is not something to be concerned about. Some have suggested that the Queen and Prince Philip may be scaling back their engagements again and going to make Windsor Castle their permanent home only coming into London for official occasions only.

Personally I think the media are over egging this, it will be funny if it turns out to be nothing to do with the Queen or Prince Philip but rather an internal staffing matter.

When I heard that it was a staff meeting, it seemed highly unlikely that it was anything personal, so I lost interest in what will be the non-event of the years.

And a former press secretary to HM thinks it could be about the refurb at Buckingham Palace, now that will be a let down for all the media outside the Palace.

    • Is that this year’s refurb Missy … or last year’s …?

Up in Manchester, from what I saw in the series Bouncers, a lot of them are, especially on Friday & Saturday nights.

Prince Philip is retiring and the young age of 95. Nothing much else to miss G…. 😉

Or did you mean about the French in T Square???? Nothing, bad day yesterday having to navigate through hundreds of them and having the darling little school kids tell me to F*** off, and deliberately walk into the locals going about their business. Horrible little children, the product of the EU.

And for the anti climax. Prince Philip is retiring.

    • A lot of backspacing on royal stories going on at the moment.

Like – I’d have thought he retired about when the Queen mother died.

It shows that in the age of 24hr news and social media the MSM have more of a responsibility to not report every rumour.

Many news outlets have been embarrassed by rushing to report rumours and speculation.

They wouldn’t be going to NZ even if he wasn’t retired, she gave up long haul trips years ago, and all overseas trips recently – the last one was to France where she took the Eurostar.

Time for Prince George to step up, Missy?

        • Missy

           /  May 5, 2017

Absolutely – if the Royals will work a nonagenarian almost to death they can’t be too squeamish about Child Labour surely. And I think now she is 2 it is time Princess Charlotte started doing more!!

          • So much for yous two’s royalty loyalty … or royalism …

Succession is succession … It’s fixed in gold, silver & Crown jewellery … fixed in feudal monarchy, nobility and peasantry … There must be a King Charles and then a King William …

            • Missy

               /  May 5, 2017

Parti, where did either of us suggest anything about subverting the succession, we just suggested it was time the children stepped up and did their bit (tongue in cheek mind you, as I certainly think they are a little young).

On a more serious matter, just suggesting some of the more senior royals should step up and do more of the official engagements in no way suggests there should be a change in the succession.

I personally am looking forward to King Charles, I think he will make a good King, and will be a worthy successor to his mother.

            • She should have abdicated in his favour years ago … about the time Lady Di’s disappearance was so cleverly arranged …

Wow. Always wondered about that. So now you have the rock hard, incontravertible evidence, PZ? Link?

            • Really!? You want links to Lady Di conspiracy theory sites … ?

Let’s talk about the Twin Towers or JFK instead …

No, no. I want the one with the rock hard evidence. Conspiracy sites are two-a-penny. There’s just about one for everything. Gimme the hard ass factual one with the smoking gun.

It’s *amazing* what a lot of old people know…

Wayne’s mother was telling us that *Prince Phillip’s sister* married a member of the *Nazi SS* (Prince Christoph of Hesse)….and even named her son *Adolph* in honor of Hitler 😡

    • Kitty Catkin

       /  May 5, 2017

A German would spell it Adolf. NOT Adolph. This story is very stale news.

      • Nelly Smickers

         /  May 5, 2017

Yes, well, no doubt it’s very stale news to you, Catkin……but certainly not to those of us from the *younger generation* XD

        • Kitty Catkin

           /  May 5, 2017

One doesn’t have to have lived through an era to know about it, that’s why people write history books and others study history. I would hate to be so ignorant that all I knew was what had happened in my own lifetime as you seem to do.

          • Nelly Smickers

             /  May 5, 2017

Did you even read what I wrote Catkin? I said that Prince Phillip’s sister named her son *Adloph*….it didn’t need to be spelt the same way as Hitler ❗ It’s like the Whanganui / Wanganui thing……silly.

And were you aware that *Prince Christoph’s cousin* was the Commandant of *Buchenwald Concentration Camp* at one stage ❓ Bet Liz & Phil hoped that would never get out…….

            • Kitty Catkin

               /  May 5, 2017

              Adloph ?? ? I doubt it.

        • Kitty Catkin

           /  May 5, 2017

And I’d hate to be so ignorant that I didn’t know how Hitler’s name was spelt-that really does show a lack of knowledge of one of the major eras in c.20 history.

There was a story in 2015 about Prince Philip and his Nazi relations, a photo was published of him in a Nazi funeral procession. So unless one can’t remember what was happening two years ago, one should remember it from then, even if one has no knowledge of history except one’s own.
