Listened to Mikey Hosking last night re Charter Schools. That guy is becoming a national treasure both for the nation and National.

When I talk of education it’s simple stuff. Corporal punishment, bullying, the three R’s and
Maori. In fact I’m regularly told I don’t understand education at all. That my ideas belong to yesteryear, especially regarding corporal punishment which I’m reminded is abuse.

So last nights programme went to a charter school. Two pupils were interviewed. The first things they said was they feel safe and aren’t bullied. Wow, no shit Sherlock. I wonder who did the bullying? That’s a given..MAORI AND ISLANDERS. What remedial action can state schools take to stop bullying? NOTHING….because there is no CORPORAL PUNISHMENT.
So, is it any wonder these kids are flourishing at charter schools?

The two kids interviewed wanted to become a lawyer and fireman respectively. No guarantees of course, but when you don’t live in fear all things are possible.

The programme then interviewed Labour education spokesman, Chris Hipkins. Hipkins, a hidebound idealogue stated state schools just need more funding…and problem solved. No need for charter schools. Labour will not fund more charter schools, and those in existence will be treated on a case by case basis…read defunded out of existence, or forced to become state school clones.

I think there are still problems to be sorted regarding charter schools. But the most important thing for proponents is to get Cindy’s ear on this issue.

Back in the day when the teachers were pretty free with ol’ strap, the bullies at my college were pakeha arseholes Corks. Mostly blond haired too, when I think about it.

Yeah, well, mind you, A roll of roughly 300 pakeha boys, day boys & boarders, probably 98% Catholics, & only ever one Maori pupil at the school for the entire 6 years, from Form 1 to Form 6, that I was there. Always the same type though, at least one in every class. Big fkrs. Rich parents. Picked on the kids who were a bit odd or couldn’t/didn’t defend themselves. Usually had a crowd of sycophantic acolytes. They were mostly boarders. They got away with it for years.

I was bullied seriously twice-both times by Pakehas. One group made my life a misery in the 3rd form until some other victim was chosen. Among other things, when I went to the loo, one of them would go into the one/s next to mine and stand on the seat, looking over. This may not sound too bad, but it was just one way that these little bitches showed their power….I remember that they eventually tired of tormenting me and moved onto some other unfortunate. I never knew why I was chosen. A group of bigger girls threatened and stood over my friends and me at intermediate-I suspect that the physical bullying was minor, but it was still terrifying.

Beating IS abuse-it’s assault. A good teacher shouldn’t need it. My mother very seldom did-she kept control by her personality, and never shouted the class down, another sign that the children have won. I think that she only strapped once or twice in her teaching career.

If this were Clinton she’d already be burning at the stake in the public square. Meanwhile the Republicans turn a blind eye. Hypocrites the lot of them.

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/national-security/trump-revealed-highly-classified-information-to-russian-foreign-minister-and-ambassador/2017/05/15/530c172a-3960-11e7-9e48-c4f199710b69_story.html?hpid=hp_hp-top-table-high_trumpintel-0504pm%3Ahomepage%2Fstory&utm_term=.086e109daded#comments

President Trump revealed highly classified information to the Russian foreign minister and ambassador in a White House meeting last week, according to current and former U.S. officials, who said Trump’s disclosures jeopardized a critical source of intelligence on the Islamic State.

The information the president relayed had been provided by a U.S. partner through an intelligence-sharing arrangement considered so sensitive that details have been withheld from allies and tightly restricted even within the U.S. government, officials said.

The partner had not given the United States permission to share the material with Russia, and officials said Trump’s decision to do so endangers cooperation from an ally that has access to the inner workings of the Islamic State. After Trump’s meeting, senior White House officials took steps to contain the damage, placing calls to the CIA and the National Security Agency.

    • You are kidding aren’t you? Let’s call it what it is another daily, anonymous, source unrevealed dog whistle and you’re crying wolf.

Please don’t cite this in comparison to Hillary. She committed what have been determined by Comey (yes I know he’s not the AG) crimes against the state and got a Comey pass because she didn’t have intent. You have to realise that the Russians, no doubt the Koreans and everybody who wanted a look saw every word she wrote as Sec of State.

Seriously, I wonder that True Derangement Syndrome hasn’t taken hold in NZ when such spurious, hyperbolic analogies are used.

        • Excuse me artcroft…there is nothing to see in the above post – it’s an unverified anonymous source alleging information we’re not privy to being disseminated to the (wait for it…) dreaded Russians fgs.

And, you’re asking me to engage in a meaningful way with a poster who says:

“If this were Clinton she’d already be burning at the stake in the public square. Meanwhile the Republicans turn a blind eye. Hypocrites the lot of them.”

There is nothing to say to the statement Sir, other than that the allegations are quite unproven, the source is anonymous, no specific “information” allegedly shared is given us. It sails further into conspiracy and madness when the poster announces that Clinton would be “burning at the stake”. I contend, in the spirit of the gross hyperbole used here, that she’d have to use Sarin gas in the NY subway to even get booked for a misdemeanour.

Trump is a pillock. I contend though, that he’s the USAsociety has got to a chance to give them the wake u call they need.

They need to change their flawed and deeply partisan system where the oil, guns and drug men calling the shots. This so much deeper than Trump. Wake up, this is Kim Kardashian and Caitlyn Jenner country…who do you expect to be President other than a reality TV host.

          Smoke and Mirrors…

Third to last paragraph …”Trump is a pillock…..Etc”. I ,went to say maybe he is just the wake up call they need, but for heaven’s sake try to be reasonable about it Dems. All this impeachment nonsense is well in Cry Wolf territory. It’s white noise to middle America I’m guessing.

There must be some major shit about to hit the fan with more stories on Impeach Trump and the Russia narrative. It does surprise me that if there was any truth to these stories that they’d be all over the internet, unless of course they were fed by unnamed sources. Oh wait, they are.

The Russia noise gets louder and louder by the day, but where is the evidence?

Aljaz tv an hour or so ago featured a video clip of The NSA Director (McMasters?)vehemently & categorically denying there was any truth at all to the story. Should be some news articles to that effect by now.

        Very tribalistic, Traveller.

Clinton’s carelessness with classified information was far more mundane than Trump’s. While some of the information found on her email server was classified at the time it was discovered, little or none of that was marked as classified at the time she sent it, nor is there proof that any foreign countries came into possession of it.

Trump directly shared more sensitive information with foreign officials, which is a far more careless approach than Clinton’s.

Members of the Senate Intelligence Committee have already been briefed on Trump’s disclosure, and the assistant to the president for homeland security and counterterrorism has called the directors of the CIA and the NSA.

Moreover the White House denial — that Trump did not explicitly discuss the sources and methods behind the intelligence — doesn’t actually rebut the WaPo’s reporting.

There’s probably no legal issue here, since the president controls the classification system and has essentially unlimited authority to declassify or disclose classified information. But there’s an expectation of competence that he has blown out the window.

Well, I’m no Trump fan as is known, but watching McMasters, I absolutely believe him. Trump’s egotistical personaility, puerile hot-headedness, unpredictability, intellectual laziness, being used to having peole say “yessir” & just do it because he’s the boss, tweeting & throwing his toys out of the cot, having no idea of how differently he needs to work with his team now he’s off the campaign trail – all of these add up to him constantly stirring the pot.

The whole US system of government is in an uproar. If he’d just grow up, shut up, & get on with it he probably would be well on the way to shutting the media circus down by now.

            • But Trump seems to be obsessed by the media and being seen as great, but the more he reacts to bad press the less great he looks.

             /  May 17, 2017

            That’s not what McMasters claimed.

McMasters issued a carefully worded statement that sources and methods were not “discussed”.

That statement doesn’t address the WaPo claims.

You’re living in the past now Joe. McMasters & Trump have had a lot more to say since then so the story’s evolved further.

  3. The Wapo is busy dissing KA Conway today. They’ve got a lot to say on her “hating” Trump, and elsewhere CNN have got that he got two scoops of ice cream to two that Press Corps got.
