Meanwhile, back in Manchester

Telegraph live blog on the concert: Ariana Grande One Love Manchester concert live: Pharrell and Miley Cyrus team up for surprise duet on Happy

I’d never heard of Ariana Grande, and she really doesn’t look like my cup of tea musically or stylistically, I haven’t heard of Pharrell, and I’ve never been a fan of Miley Cyrus or Justin Bieber, but good on them for putting on this concert in support of Manchester and in defiance of terrorism.

The concert is playing live on TV1. Ariana is on right now, not my sort of thing but the crowd is loving it.

      • They really got the concert rocking.

Katy Perry put a lot into her set too.

Gallagher is disappointing, going through the motions.

I always thought Oasis was over-rated tbh Pete. They Did a couple of nice songs but otherwise blah. Unkind perhaps, but on occasion I gather I can be. 🙂
Manchester as a variety concert overall is pretty good imo. I wander off & do brekky n stuff when I lose interest in a song.

Cold play is like vomit – as food it tasted pretty good going down but after a while it churns the stomach, turns on you and eventually makes you feel quite sick.

  3. Wohoo….. and nothing from this addresses radical Islamist living in suburbs around Manchester Birmingham, Bradford, London etc….

A whole lot of short term bread and circuses distraction to shift peoples minds off the real issue….

The people who run Britain know how to control the situation….

The concert wasn’t the idea of “the people who run Britain”. It was the idea of some performers who wanted to donate their time & skills to let the young music-loving people of Manchester know they care about them & maybe bring a little happiness to a saddened, traumatised city. Good on them.

It doesn’t in any way detract from the issues they & their government know they are going to have to wake up & face up to.

I applaud the courage of the performers who have basically said life goes on. Looking at Ariana Grande’s wardrobe it looks like she has toned things down a bit out of respect for the victims, no bunny ears and black, a nice touch.
