Roy Morgan June poll

The June 2017 poll from Roy Morgan is ok for most parties, with the notable exception of Labour.

  • National 46.5% (up from 43)
  • Labour 25.5% (down from 28.5)
  • Greens 14% (no change)
  • NZ First 9% (down from 10)
  • Maori Party 1.5% (no change)
  • ACT Party 1% (up from 0.5)
  • United Future 0% (no change)
  • Mana Party 0.5% (down from 1)
  • Conservatives 0% (no change)
  • Other 2% (up from 1.5)

TOP will be included in Other.

It is looking promising for the Maori Party to pick up a list seat or two if they don’t get any more electorates.

National have bounced back from three lows in a row. Perhaps the budget helped.

Labour are back down to about the same level of support as their terrible election result.

BUT: the polling period was 29 May to 11 June so it doesn’t cover the big hiccups for both National and Labour this week.

The next two or three polls will be interesting but it might be a while before we get any more.

Not to worry, Labour’s internal polling of Labour MP’s has them at 32% support so all good.

  2. Oh look another poll with National back in the middle of the polling results band they have been in for a number of years…….. next 3-4 polls will be more interesting to see if Barclay has resonated or not…… I suspect the longer away from the event NOT…. the framing of the questions in the polling and the sequence as all ways will be key to the answer to which Party would you support at the next election question….

      • Hahaha – hold on to that hope Blazer…. the polls are hiding a Shy Leftie component for sure /sarc.

The difference between NZ and the Uk or US is simple. We haven’t got the built up resentment that those countries have or unhappiness among a cohort who dont normally vote like the UK with the under 25s about brexit.

The Nats will poll 42-44 on the day, Labour 23-25 and the Greens 10-12. NZ First will pick up votes and surprisingly so will ACT

Why? Because Labour is incompetent and its leadership is appalling. Bill is boring but he has a track record of safe and steady to rely on. Andy has Pike River to explain, plus Slave Labour internships and importantly in Auckland Chinese sounding names….

          Jenny Kirk-TS..
Roy Morgan Research put out a press release this afternoon (23.6.2017) showing results of a poll, and suggesting that the National Party has a huge lead in the polls.

What they are NOT telling you all – is this poll was taken just after the Budget speech – between 29 May to 11 June, 874 electors surveyed, and 6.5% were don’t knows.

But – to hold back on such a poll, and bring it out just as the Nats are floundering around trying to pretend the Barclay incident hasn’t happened – is just too coincidental – in my personal opinon. This is “dirty politics” being played yet again !

Ironic that Roy Morgan used to be the favoured poll of the left because time after time it falsely had Labour/Greens polling higher than reality.
