The Nation – Nikki Kaye on education

On The Nation this morning Minister of Education Nikki Kay will be interviewed about education:

Education Minister Nikki Kaye announced new classrooms for some schools… but are they enough to cope with population growth?

Says she’s spoken to the Ministry about having to do a lot better at understanding what’s happening with roll changes in real time.

Taking out of zone children is part of the reason for overcrowding in some schools says Kay.

Kaye accepts that in some situations the Ministry is moving too slowly to build new classrooms.

Kaye says she’s not a fan of the decile system… she expects to have an update about what might replace it before the election.

A Minister can never do enough to avoid problems in some schools.

Kay was unflustered and matter of fact with all of her responses to a badgering by Lisa Owen. She seems to have a good grasp of her education portfolio.

    “a badgering by Lisa Owen”

One of the many vipers in the Leftist pit that is The Nation and public radio generally.

Needs to be cleaned out and a balanced program – fairly reflecting the full spectrum of the tax payer base financing it – installed, otherwise defund, asset strip and flog off.

There’s black badgering, and beige badgering. Lisa’s a bit of a black badgerer. Did Nikki manage to finish any sentences?

I’m not appreciating your innuendo G. Even if the ‘curtains don’t match the carpet’, it is completely irrelevant… 😀

  3. Nikki Kaye has served her apprenticeship in the education portfolio with a lengthy stint as Associate Minister. She probably would have become Minister at the end of last year, but for her unfortunate brush with breast cancer. I think she will be a very strong performer.

I think it would probably be good idea if the government this year could also invest additional funds in worthy projects & not squander them on completely unnecessary, un-needed, & unjustifiable increases in the salaries of Members of Parliament. I am hereby volunteering my services to become a member of whatever the appropriate remuneration authority that makes recommendations to the government on this matter is. I feel certain that our elected representatives would fully endorse my recommendation to the effect above, not wishing to squander taxpayers’ funds needlessly.

Vote left and pay more taxes. If we just spent more money is the answer to everything so the left say.

My elder step daughter has a head filled with lefty and feminist shit (and it is shit) that makes her unable to relax, enjoy life (because men are all bastards – except Muslim men) and we are all going to die because of global warming.

The sooner the govt gets out of education and lets people have vouchers with choices the better.

Yes yes we can look that but no promises it seems a bit extreme & possibly too unchristian for me. What I want to know is will you support a recommendation for my appoinment the Higher Salaries Commission or whatever the heck it is called now on the basis of my platform described above.

I might add that I will be expecting to subject the Senior Executive Service salaries to the most intense scrutiny I can possibly manage. Salary cuts, potentially quite large cuts, would be inevitable if I hold a controlling vote & opinion is evenly divided

Tell us the lefty and feminist shit that her head is filled with and how that is the fault of the Government being involved in education.
