“Keep the bastards honest”

A significant part of the support for NZ First is from those who think that Winston Peters can ‘keep the bastards honest’.

How will that support go when it becomes apparent to more voters that Winston’s ambition in this election is to become the bastard in power.

Too funny, PG. Winnie and the truth have an adversarial relationship. Heavens knows what he would really do in power though.

Winston has an opportunity to build a lasting legacy with NZ First. He needs to strengthen the party with smart thinkers but I don’t know whether his (perceived) vanity would let him.

I have the feeling that the continued attention to Peters on YourNZ might soon have someone saying “You’re picking on the bastard.”

NZF are making a last stand for Mr Peters to be PM.. arise (already) Rt. Hon. Winston

I heard a person on Q+A say ‘some are comparing him to mrT’ BUT is it the other way round.. Winston’s been doing this ‘populist’ agenda MUCH longer.

keeping his ‘powder dry’ & ‘cards close to his chest’

BUT I wonder where Mr Jones really fits in ? with Tracey, Ron & Fletch ‘champing at the bit’ too

maybe a good slogan for NZF above.. ‘keep em honest’

Yawn! I’d love to stick about & argue, but the lawn won’t mow itself. NZF will get >20% of the party vote on election day. Deal with it 😛

Seems to be a stretch to me, patu. But it will make life interesting if it happens. His Northport railway is not a bad idea at all and would do a lot for the north as well as improving Auckland City’s traffic and attractiveness.

The Northport Railway will happen. The future of this country lies in the north, Alan. Auckland is at capacity, & Tauranga will be, in under two decades. If I had a spare $200k, I wouldn’t be parking it in the bank…

If LTNZ wasn’t completely incompetent Northland would have boomed before now, patu. Roads, railways, airways and ports all in the dead hands of bureaucracies. As are health and education. Enjoy stagnation, folks.

Call me crazy Alan, but I suspect that you might not be the only northerner who thinks this way. Quite the opposite, most likely…
And as much as some might hold Shane Jones’s earlier indiscretions against him, they also know that his roots are in the north. Which will most likely mean, he is a passionate advocate for his electorate. Much like Winston was, when he was MP for Tauranga, and lived here. The far north has been neglected for far too long. And the far north now has the opportunity, once again, to ‘send a message’. Which they will…

That doesn’t put me off that particular investment at all, C. Quite the opposite, actually. If what you allege is true, they won’t care if I jack up the rent by $50/week, because they can obviously afford it… 😉 And because they want no attention from the law, they will keep the section looking tidy 😀

Probably best you don’t venture into the landlord business pat

Done it before C. And never again… 😀
