The state of US politics

US politics appears to be overwhelmed by deep seated problems. That voters ended up with a choice between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump revealed a lack of strong leadership. Both the Republican and the Democrat parties are floundering and potentially foundering, but there are no viable alternatives.

The party problems are in part a result of an entrenched two party system that has kept fresh talent and fresh ideas out of contention.

      Gaslighting 101:

trump calls Sessions beleaguered when trump’s the Beleaguerer-in-Chief.

  2. Drain the swamp – by allowing it to completely fail maybe? Are you sure that allowing the congress and senate to tie themselves in knots over healthcare is not a tactic to force change? Trump allowed one of his first republican opponents for the nomination to try and broker the first healthcare reform – which failed.

He could easily be playing a decapitation strategy here

It’s being played out as a civil war. Trump’s view is if you are not on my side you are the enemy. Mueller is seen as serving the enemy. Sessions is seen as protecting him by omission. Gunfire is imminent.

      Gunfire
(army slang) A cup of tea, especially one served early in the morning, before first parade, usually strong, black, with sugar.

Poor Sessions. Trump wants him gone but Sessions has nothing to go back to. His Senate seat has been passed on. If Trump was wise he’d promote Sessions to a new post of Vice-Overlord of Texas or some such, so that Jeff could keep his dignity and go quietly. But to give Trump his due, if he hates you, he hates you.

Sessions is toast and his career is finished. The next AG of the US is going to have to be completely bum lickingly loyal to Trump. The first question in the interview will be “Will you fire Muller. Yes or no?”

There will be no second question.

    Drain the Swamp.

The Republicans have to vote on Health Care today. If that vote doesn’t go through I imagine Trump will vent his anger on someone close at hand. Jeff Sessions better leave town now.

So trump thinks the US Justice Department should be an extension of the president’s will, right through to to determining whom and what they investigate.

Ironically if Good Ol’ Boy Sessions is fired, trump will be getting rid of his most effective executive – at least in terms of pushing trumpist policy reforms – and getting rid of one of his earliest/staunchest supporters…

Wow just Wow! The greatest political predictor in the history or the world tells us why el presidente is on the cusp of total victory. And here we were, thinking he’s about to be impeached. Okay not ‘absolutely’ but close enough…

It loaded ok. I’ll look at it later.

When’s he coming back with you to do a tour round our public & private hospitals, and talk to your daughter – the GP, not the copper – about how to set up a decent Health Service for all? The poor bugger’s got no idea there’s way to get rid of all the shysters & ticket clippers that infest theirs.

What are you smoking? Don’t you know that s**t has killed eight people so far this year. See your local health practitioner immediately. Explain to them how you believe that repealing Obamacare and replacing it with a website that invites the public to share their ideas is a fix for an actual health system. Continue to reveal you delusional state by suggesting that Scaramucci is the answer to all Trumps problems and you’ll be admitted to A & E promptly.

With luck and modern medicine you’ll be fine in a decade or so.
