Media Watch is a focus on New Zealand media, blogs and social media. You can post any items of interested related to media.

A primary aim here is to hold media to account in the political arena. A credible and questioning media is an essential part of a healthy democracy.

A general guideline – post opinion on or excerpts from and links to blog posts or comments of interest, whether they are praise, criticism, pointing out issues or sharing useful information.

    During this recent Metiria opening her legs episode, did media just once ask why she didn’t use contraception? If not why not – too chicken?

    Jesse Mulligan says he agrees with Richard Florida; he would Richard Florida is the patron saint of urban progressives.
    His thesis was that there is a creative class that drives prosperity and cities, when they have the correct urban form attract these creative types who drive wealth.
    Yesterday he told Jesse that NIMBY’s should bud out and allow density and then, in moves the creative class and the economy booms. He also supports immigration from all angles.
    His latest book is on what was wrong with his theory. Like OJ he commits the crime gets off then writes a book about it. As Patron Saint he can get away with it.
