Mikey Hosking is taking flak this morning as socialists buoyed by Cindy’s election as leader, rip into him over the ” pregnancy debate.”

Basically, Mikey said the hysteria around the topic is not justified. the simple fact is being PM is a unique office, and of course, pregnancy matters.

I agree with this totem of middleclass splendour. What if:

It’s 3am. Cindy is up nursing her son, Karl Engels Ardearn. The phone goes and a voice says: ”Prime Minister can you move to a secure line.” Cindy picks up the secure line.
”Prime Minister, a coalition of Muslim forces from Indonesia have attacked Darwin. We also have reports unidentified forces have simultaneously attacked South Korea.”

” We have a briefing in an hours time from the United States Consulate. All operations are being switched to the Beehive Emergency Operations room. Prime Minister, Emergency protocols are now operational.

Yeah, so Cindy has to switch from a mummy mindset to considering whether we declare war on Indonesia and send many Kiwi troops to their deaths.

So has there be any precedence for a woman PM to have been in such a situation? Not to my knowledge.

I don’t think you need to be dramatic about this. The simple issue is whether you are voting for an Ardern/Davis leadership or a Davis/? as soon as Ardern can get pregnant.

        • Alan Wilkinson

           /  August 3, 2017

That is exactly the question, G? Is she like Helen or not? Helen was upfront on her direction. So far Jacinda has claimed the exact opposite intent. Why the hell are we not expected to ask for clarification?

This PC crap should be laughed out of court. Good on Richardson and Hosking for giving it a good kicking.

Davis is totally irrelevant as in any left-wing coalition his position goes to someone from a different party.

If Winston has his way that will be the case for Ardern as well.

Tariana Turia : Tribes Treaty Claims 1.5% of what was taken. Settlements can’t be full and final.

Nati apa Treaty Claims. Our young people have taken that settlement through and because I have particular views about settlements I’ve had to remain [“ “] or I’ll put our young people off. But they have worked constructively with our government and they’ve got about
1.5% of what was taken. TT says “no government cant expect people settlements to be full and final if justice isn’t served.”
    http://www.radionz.co.nz/audio/national/ckpt/2008/09/05/waatea_news

    1. it isn’t events that effect us but how we choose to react (to a degree anyway)
    2. The Treaty wasn’t really an agreement. Maori had no idea what was around the corner. The Treaty negotiators were in a subservient position (at that point in time).
    3. This has become institutionalised.
    4. The issue is informed by postmodernism (no objective truth).
    5. There may be bits of settlement but like gorse seeds will keep sprouting.

These Chinese are hard cases. They demand Apple remover VPN apps before selling to the Chinese market in apparently what is a relentless drive to tighten censorship.

At the same time some Chinese companies covertly sell to the Western black market cell phones that don’t have the Clipper chip ( or equivalent) to allow authorities to track that phone, or use covert tech to listen in.

China needs to remember the tighter they clamp down on their citizens the bigger the revolution will be when it comes.

Windows technical department on the phone again just now. Todd, I think he said, Indian I think. Getting an urgent message from my computer’s number suggesting I have accidentally downloaded some viruses & was I on my computer at the moment?

“How can this be? I’m using an iPad”, I said.
“You are using an iPad?” says Todd. “Do you have another computer?”
“No” I lied. “Only an iPad.”
“Oh” he said. “Nothing to worry. Good day sir.” He said. 💪🏼 👍🏼

I had that a week or so ago, and asked the man if he was ringing to say that my computer had a virus and that if I paid them $300, they could fix it.

Yes, he was. (full marks for cheek)

I then said that I knew it was a scam etc and the conversation ended.

Bunnings are being used by scammers-a little Bunnings survey that begins by asking if you spend more at Mitre 10 or Bunnings appears….it ends with personal details being wanted. I didn’t bother to go that far, as the wording made me suspicious. I googled it, and it is a scam which has nothing to do with Bunnings.

          I usually say that I don’t have a computer.

But once the young woman said very nastily ‘What about the laptop you’re using right now ?’ or words to that effect-and I was using one. ???

             /  August 3, 2017

Same here. In fact I didn’t have a computer. I was on holiday at a rellies. The lady(Indian) said ” please sir, people try to fool me all the time, I am from Microsoft and if you will tell me what your system is we will update it for you.

I told her to fug off, and slammed down the phone. She rang back. I told her ‘to have a curry and fug off. My relly has never heard from them again.

I little bit of racism goes a long way.

Yes but they just guess, because most people these days have a computer. If this happens again, just say: “No, really, I don’t have a computer. I don’t have any technology. I live a very simple life. I don’t even have a telephone.”

And see what happens next? (Hold the phone away from your ear a bit though.)
