In support of Turei

Metiria has taken a major hit over the past couple of days, but there is still strong support for her from some, although that appears to be a minority.

On Twitter from ,  retweeted by Green MP Marama Davidson:

This Metiria Turei bashing stuff is complete shit and reflects 30 years of neoliberal indoctrination and govt propaganda.

It’s a complete witch hunt and smacks of dirty politics and smear campaigns run by the same old commentariat class.

That commentariat class who, by the way, have the most to gain by keeping power relations the same. They trash Metiria because they fear change.

This demograph speaks the loudest and commands more than their fair share of the media – they are heavily invested in the status quo.

What it does it make it seem like their voice IS the voice of “middle NZ”. But it’s not. It’s only one sectors voice, albeit a powerful one.

Metiria Turei spoke truth to that power. She revealed the brokenness of our welfare system and the lies of neoliberalism.

Those in power didn’t like her exposing that truth and are now doing everything they can to smother and to silence her/truth.

But. The truth does out. More of us see it now, how neoliberalism lies, the govt propaganda re welfare, how they silence and shame people.

What I find heartening is, a certain demograph aside, people get it. I see more and more people getting this, being louder about change.

More people are refusing the status quo. Changing the narrative. Having compassion. Showing empathy. Metiria gives us voice and hope.

We can change this system. We can challenge lies. We can speak truth to power. Every time we do, is another crack in the dominant narrative.

The problem is to change the system you have to become a part of the system, which means getting into government.

Greens and other activists haven’t worked out how to do that yet, and the Metiria gamble has probably made that harder and more distant.

And I think they may be overestimating how many people “get it”.

Well yes, they gave her a pulpit and she shot her mouth and feet off with it.

The sticking point for me was when Turei first announced it, she stated she would repay the money if investigated. She should have repaid the money and kept her trap shut, however had there been a need to announce it, at least she would have not come across like such a self-entitled trougher (that she is).

She tried to cover her dishonesty with a political campaign but she did even that dishonestly and has now been exposed for what she really is. Goneburger.

Utter crap from someone who needs a reality check in a Brailiazian favela. They now have ghetto tours where Righties like me get to see how the poor live from the safety of a bus with armed gurds onboard. I would love to see Bexxy selling trinkets to scrape a living in a place that has little neo-liberal influence.

          Or Katherine.

You must be able to see the difference between that (which has been a diminutive of Katherine for many centuries) and some gimmicky (and unoriginal) attempt to make an ordinary name less ordinary-Jax, Bex, and such things.

Bex’s message is so depressing but I have to acknowledge that this intellectual has mastered the application of the template for promulgating such utter tripe.

Dear God, just looked at this woman’s twitter feed, a bl**dy lefty liberal extreme feminist by the looks – a ‘criticising a woman is sexist, criticising a non-white is racist’ twit!

She does women a disservice by excusing Turei’s fraud, most others on the DPB would not get the level of support that Turei is getting.

You forgot ‘criticising a beneficiary fraudster is beneficiary-bashing’.

Give yourself an extra uptick from me, as I can only do one.

I believe that women are far, far more patronising towards other women than almost any man could ever be.

I have yet to hear anyone who thinks that MT’s actions were all right.

Such is the power of ideology to control rational thought that Bex would have us all accept that Turei is speaking the truth.

Bex is a dickhead. She’s fooling nobody but herself & the rest of The Sisterhood. And most women in NZ don’t have much truck with them!

Correct. In fact I’ve watched them get incandescent when Turei appears on the box. If she thinks the sisterhood is behind her she is very wrong.
