An interesting opinion piece by Holly Walker, supporting – not condemning – the questions to Jacinda Ardern about having children. She says how difficult it was for her to be an MP and a new mother, and says that the question needs to be asked.

I woke up expecting blood on the floor at RNZ. Instead they were all in relaxed mode and quietly mopping up.

Cam Slater slips in some ‘fake news’ on a story about ‘fake news’

“A very recent internal UMR poll had Labour on 20%.   And NZ First on 19%”

Pathetic “Green filtered” coverage from Stuff or Turei’s media b.s. Certainly their public comments were heavily censored yet still condemned Turei for not resigning. What a bunch of Lefty wankers we have for our media.

Stuff: “Ardern says she would not have been comfortable with Turei being a minister in her cabinet, and she was going to announce this today, if Turei hadn’t.”

So what’s Ardern’s ‘comfortable’ rating based on? Turei couldn’t be a minister in her govt but is all good to be an MP in her wider govt and leader of a party Labour will work closely with? What’s the difference?

Leave the poor girl alone. She’s handling pretty well everything far better than her predecessor so far & she’s only 3 days in the job. Metz is doomed – why waste time interfering with her self-destruction?

The Greens are like a huge weight around the ankles of Labour.

Apparently the new Labour slogan ‘Let’s do this!” refers to encouraging everybody to commit benefit fraud.

I wonder if they rejected “Let’s do them” as sounding a bit too aggressive?

              Seymour echoes my thoughts….(stuff);

“Today Jacinda Ardern faced her first real test of leadership, and she failed,” says ACT Leader David Seymour.

“Jacinda could have made Metiria Turei’s resignation a requirement for Labour to work with the Greens.

“Instead, she accepted a cop-out: Metiria will stay out of Cabinet, but continue as an MP, participating in a Labour-led government.

“By taking this compromise, Jacinda is the first person in New Zealand history to run for Prime Minister saying “fraud is only a little bit wrong”.

“She’s refused to truly penalise Metiria for defrauding and deceiving the public. Being made to give up a position she never had is not a penalty.

“Labour and the Greens call for resignations every second week. National MP Aaron Gilmore was hounded out of Parliament just for being a dickhead.

“More recently, there was Todd Barclay’s resignation. Is what he did really any worse than Metiria Turei’s fraud and lies?

“Clearly, the Left has a lower standard for behaviour.”

Ever get the feeling that Zedd just passed through this thread?

Either that or a night shift worker has had his daylight hours kip. See who pops up shortly.

Truth be told, Zedd’s probably hacked off with her too, but he’s a tribal loyalist. He knows she’s probably killed the vote climb for them, maybe even crashed it. 100% Herald poll says she should resign? Unprecedented. Wonder what a poll of the ODT and DomPost readers would produce. Metz’s martyr act isn’t going to wash. Every public appearance she makes from now is going to inflict more pain.

The resignations? I can see that – if they were onshore they wouldn’t be allowed to escape further investigation by just doing that I guess.
