There is a lot of speculation that the next EU exit will be a Polexit.

The rift between the EU and Poland is deepening, and they are being threatened from all sides.

Poland has been on a collision course with the EU for months. They refuse to take migrants despite an EU directive, and face 10,000’s Euro fines for this. A month or so ago the Government announced reforms to the judiciary which would mean Parliament would appoint members of the judiciary.

The EU have threatened Poland with being denied a vote in the EU if they continue with the reforms, they have now been given one month to reverse the reforms or face sanctions.

European Council President Donald Tusk has said “There is a question mark over Poland’s European future today,” Tusk is a former Polish PM from a different party to the current ruling party, so it is no surprise he condemns them regardless.

There is some fear in Poland that the Government may be leading them on a path to leaving the EU, something which may go against public opinion, as the EU is currently still very popular in Poland – something which the critics suggest is because Poland is a net beneficiary of EU funds, meaning they get more from the EU than they pay into it.

Funniest headline of the day (yes, I know, it is the Daily Mail), but it did give me a laugh.

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4763396/Scottish-Highlands-hit-biggest-earthquake-30-years.html#comments

‘‘Terrifying!’: Scottish Highlands are shaken by their biggest earthquake for 30 years”

The earthquake was a terrifying 3.8!!

I know, I shouldn’t laugh, but really, describing a 3.8 as terrifying is a tad over dramatic.

    • Nice one Missy. I lived there for 15 years so the comments were quite nostalgic. Here is a flavour:

“It was the first time the earth had moved for Morag in over 30 years of marriage.”
