DIY advice wanted-has anyone ever removed a shower ? Mine’s a Felton Mix. It looks as if one could remove it.

Do mean just a shower mixer? If so no, but I Have an upstairs mixer that leaks & will need checking and/or replacing. It’s a Topliss & it’s a plastic dial, which won’t simply just pull off & looks easily breakable. I’ll probably get a plumber in. It’s easy to have embarassing misadventures with more than just very basic DIY plumbing tasks. But I’ll see what I could find out with google when I’m ready to tackle it. The downstairs one’s better anyway.

It’s not that model, Noel, its mixer ‘handle’ is all in one like a flowerpot with a handle. But I think that the other parts may be older.

The ‘flowerpot’ is really hard to remove.

The O/D rings are really expensive and I have a feeling that they may be hard to find for a particular model. I’d love a retro shower, this one drips and is getting worse, and if I could even ‘disable’ it, I would be happy to use one of those ones that fits over the taps until I decide what to replace it with. It also, for some reason, takes forever to run hot, another incentive to not bother trying to find new rings for it. I did wonder if it would be possible to undo the nuts where its pipes join the bath taps so that water no longer goes up the pipes.

If Lurch is around, he may like to know that I dobbed a ‘man’ in today for being cruel to a dog. The poor animal had been disobedient. but it didn’t deserve to be hauled up onto its back feet and dragged along so fast that its feet were going out from under it. Nor did it deserve to be hit (not smacked) and the rest. He even seemed to kick it and then knee it into the ute, Lovely ‘man’.

I didn’t know that Cagney approved of cruelty to animals. Do you mean that he would have said ‘You dirty rat !’ ? I hope that most people would think that the person who cruelly abused a beautiful dog was the dirty rat, not the person who reported this act of brutality. Hearing a large dog yelping with fear and pain is terrible, it’s a piteous sound.
