I see national have announced policy to build 10 new roads, well I drove the kapiti express way and its being patched all ready and the surface is rubbish. The surface after the express way SH1 is total rubbish, breaking up and the patches are being patched over down by the fisherman’s restaurant .The cheapest tender isn’t all ways the best and possibly add more tar to the surface mix so large bits of road surface don’t come off.

🤔 I hope you don’t drive a tank Lurch? They can be buggers for wrecking blacktop, especially if you do wheelies in them. Apparently. 😕

Come north young man. The black tar road through the orewa tunnels is as good as the autobahn. On the southern exit downhill even a clapped out old xtrail would freewheel at 105kms. Ask the missus for $2.80 for tolls.

Oh I know mate but the new expressway’s good. When you run out of it & hit the rest of State Highway 1 North of Waikanae it’s a smack in the face though & you’re rudely reminded it’s nearly 3rd World standard.

Expressway is great up North, the Waikato expressway is superb and when the portion through to Tirau opens up that will make a huge difference to travel times (35 minutes off Auckland to Tirau) and improve safety.

How fast are you planning on going to cover the distance in 35 minutes less? 35 minutes off Auckland to Tirau according to Simon Bridges? They must have a special plan which sees the distance shortened and the traffic between the Papakura area to Auckland magically diminished.
