Election videos – Labour and National

Labour’s new election video is very Ardern orientated, with only brief glimpses of Grant Robertson and Kelvin Davis (who has been quickly relegated to the background) plus plenty of adoring supporters.

It is mostly ‘visionary’ and is likely to excite and enthral many, but without any details.

National has been promoting themselves like this:

But they have also been attacking Labour, like this:

Labour are vulnerable on tax issues, but it is a risk running negative attacks on social media, especially when they contrast so much with the vibrancy and positivity of Labour’s promotions.

as if promoting trade is some revelation! We all know the most lucrative trade deal done in modern times was done by the NZ Labour Party. How on earth the Natz think this is a point of difference beggars belief. We know that the ‘dead rat swallower’ Groser was useless as a negotiator re the TPPA ,and we also know that National is enthralled by neo-lib globalisation, cares little about NZ sovereignty, and wants to commit NZ to the TPP without further refinements. It is not really a trade deal at all and the benefits are not apparant.

And we all know that Phil Goff, one of the prime architects of the China FTA agreement broke rank with labour caucus over the TPPA.

But lets analysis Phil’s statements for a moment, basically it’s to keep the voters in the dark about their intentions and blindside them with NEW TAXES.

To this Labour/Greens/NZL First mob promoting trade is some revelation! To be fair we should perhaps start on something more simple for them like the revelation money doesn’t grow on trees and go from there.

I think the so-called ‘attack’ ads are quite subtle in terms of providing some words from senior Labour leaders and letting people draw there own conclusions as to Labour’s honesty over taxation during this election campaign.

Basically Labour are announcing or indicated a whole lot of taxes with no numbers under the proviso that working groups etc will look at this if they are in govt. No doubt these ‘working groups’ will be full of unionists and Labour sycophants and would be highly unlikely to go against the wishes of senior Labour MP’s who have all come out in favour of these taxes.

Last night in the TV debate Kelvin Davis was talking about a CGT/income tax increases as a fact, not a possibility if in govt.

The Ardern ad looks too staged and the message seems to be ‘National is doing a good job but vote for us because we can somehow do better’.

According to Russel Norman it grows on trees, unfortunately such believe often leads to massive deforestation.

Labour leader Jacinda Ardern said now was not the time for tax cuts, but ruled out any hikes to personal tax or GST.

That just leaves water, road, capital gains, tourist, and land tax then……..and anything else their two likely partners in any govt foist upon them.

Yet all their proposed taxes are inflationary. Inflation is a defacto personal tax

  5. Labour now also have a Maori election ad:

It’s ok but it seems to largely be Labour policies promoted by some of their Maori MPs. There are no specifically Maori policies.
