‘Mother of all scandals’ a wind up?

The Winston Peters superannuation overpayment story has highlighted, amongst other things, the dangers of over-egging things on Twitter,

Tim Murphy kicked things off in a tweet on Saturday.

This initiated a lot of speculation and questions over the weekend. The Super story eventually broke on Sunday evening when Peters issued a press statement.

A day later:

A danger of social media and disproportionate interest media coverage.

Winding Patrick Gower up should be avoided, he seems highly enough strung as it is.

When winding people up on Twitter these days could potentially escalate into nuclear war journalists should perhaps tweet with more care.

In New Zealand politics Twitter has become a significant factor. It is a small niche in social media generally, much of the public is oblivious to it and it’s influence, but it is a major player in exchanges amongst journalists.

Competition for the next click bait headline, joking and winding each other up, could have major repercussions.

We are hardly at risk of a nuclear war here, but we are risk of serious fallout potentially from a single tweet starting a history making change.

Patrick Gower: Gumboot Of The Year 👢 Award Winner for 9 years straight.

Lives under the delusion it’s a recognition of tv-reporting excellence, when it’s actually for tv-reporting excrement.

      Only 9 years ?

I will never forget the patronising way in which he interviewed my husband and a much older man during a major event in Act’s history, possibly assuming that as they had grey hair, they were old and silly. Leading questions were neatly parried by both men. It was very funny to see dear Prick trying to get something out of them that would look good (or bad, depending on the viewpoint) and failing dismally. That bit of footage didn’t appear.

Ma adored your comment about dad. 🌹
        They’re both lookers.
Ma’s superstructure would still make Dolly Parton look for a further enhancement, as well.

I dont know a single person who is on twitter, tweets or follows tweeters. It just seems like some exclusive bubble where the liberal elite sit around and work out who is sexist, racist, homophobic etc.

My impression is that it’s where wannabes try to make themselves famous and groupies think that because someone like Katie Hopkins has them on a list of people who are sent tweets that she is their friend and somehow knows them.

Actually the mother of all scandals is that Labour has demonstrated via its own internal takeover by its elite that Lefty voters don’t have a clue yet it continues to pander to them.

I believe the correct word should possibly actually be panda, Sir Alan.
The new cub may ultimately turn out to be less leftly predictable than you think.
Demographics are important, however, for now, to cement the position.
      Only time will tell, Sirrah.
      Exasperatingly yours
      As always
      Sir Gerald.

I suspect you misread me, Sir Gerald. Lefty democracy produced the hapless Andy. Elitist revolution and manipulation has turned their fortunes. Which they will now squander pandering to the same clueless voters who led them into the wilderness.

I misread you not, Sir Alan. That is indeed how I interpreted your remark.
I am suggesting you may be incorrect in your assumption the policies being espoused will scare the horses, as it were.

This clearly needs to be discussed further with the sensible resident of your household.

Please Put Mrs Wilkinson on the line. I will ask her how best to get through to you, short of using a brick.

          Correctingly yours. As always
          Sir Gerald.

I don’t think the smiley face will scare the horses. Merely leave the gate open for them to gallop down the road to ruin in pursuit of ever-greener grass, Sir Gerald. While messing our transport networks with steaming heaps of excrement.

what we really saw with this story is the lengths that the left go to when they want to damage someone. I saw the posts all over twitter from greens and labour supporters and it was rather disgusting that these people are more focused on trying to demolish someone falsely rather than focus on policy

btw, I do know the story that is going around, and as a taupo person, I know for a fact the person spreading it I wouldn’t trust to tell the truth if their life depended on it, they are screwed in the head.
