Winston Oil irony

At Winston Oil on today’s Face of the Day:

WOIrony

Slater has been going hard out over the last few days making serious accusations and claims but providing no evidence. Just like his new best buddy politician, Winston Peters.

If Slater or Peters had any evidence backing their claims they would produce it, wouldn’t they?

Peters didn’t produce any evidence of his claim the leak came from IRD, and he changed  his accusations as the emerging story changed,.

The Whale Oilers are not playing ‘Yay Winston!’ ball, Slater is getting challenged often, and he is losing the uptick battle by a long margin.

I didn’t realise the role Bolger had in the “New New Zealand”. He fell out with Peters calling him “racist”. Who was pushing Bolger and for what? Bolger popped up on a recent Noelle Mccarthy series. Is friend of “flipper” on Kiwiblog.

More often than not Whaleoil readers are not drinking the pro-Winston/anti-Bill English Kool-Aid Slater and his minions offer multiple times a day.

Maybe next they’ll wake up to the fact they are simply seen as cash-cows for a blog of ever diminishing relevance & insight.

Slater today: “The fear in National is palpable. They only have Bill English to blame for their predicament. This time though, they don’t have me to save them.”

If his readers believe that bullshit they will believe anything.

  3. These days it’s just an echo chamber of elderly grumps at Whaleoil. It’s turned into the exact opposite of his original idea and moderation verges on paranoia. Only a couple of days ago he was still bragging that MOAS was going to be Paula Bennett. Talk about reversing and embracing WRP – poor victim of Dirty Politics.

    Playing Winnie’s obliging lapdog when:

    1) You’re previously on public record despising him beyond hate itself
    2) Their best mate and lawyer defends your self-confessed broke self in a convoluted and expensive case

…and I’d say it’s no wonder your blog is empty except for ‘have a chat’ desperados.

He’s reached peak irrelevancy to the centre/right now he’s got Red Edwards (Bryce) retweeting him.

Exactly – Slater’s ‘great insight’ meant he initially thought the big scandal was relating to Paula Bennett, and suggested as such in posts on Sunday. No mention of Winston or Tolley at this stage.

When the Winston news broke he threw out the educated guess (smear) on Monday morning that Anne Tolley was involved in the (so-called) hit. Anyone could have made such a accusation simply based on the fact she is the Minister for Social Development. He didn’t mention Bennett was also told by officials.

Slater then uses the fact it is later reported Tolley was told of Winston’s situation that his theory of a National leak is true & he was ‘in the know’.

      Please.

Perhaps because it had nothing to do with him. It was departmental and had been sorted by MSD. It only became an issue when someone leaked it.
Why would he have been told?

You are blaming the Ministers for something that was done to them, not by them – they cannot control what they are told by public servants.

@HFD….they can though….they can instruct the staff in the ministries they head to hold high standards and adhere to the guidelines of policies, like the ‘no surprises’ one which is easily understood. Are you suggesting the staff leaked the information to journalists…if you are it is easily..traced.

@HFD btw ..Eagleson is not a minister, its not plausible that English was not told.He was caught out on the Barclay affair.

“if you are it is easily..traced.”

How? If a staffer, outside work hours used an untraceable phone?

@PDB ..Wow,never thought of that!Maybe they had one that self destructs after the call.To access the information they would have used the department computer which can be traced.Who did the staffer call?

The “Staff” have explained the procedures used before briefing the ministers. It was their decision following the guidelines put in place well before this Govt took office.
Time to take off the tin-foil blaze…

A few different staffers would have had legitimate reason to deal with Winston’s data as the issue of overpayment was being worked through, proving which one could have been the leaker is not that simple.

Craig v Slater decision on it’s way soon as well – tick, tick, tick.

Swinburn (and others) v Slater Defamation case after that – tick, tick, tick

Blomfield v Slater Defamation case still in play – tick, tick, tick

This list should help with all the down-ticks Mr Slater is currently receiving from his rapidly diminishing < 6000 reader mob.

Maximum spin mode on Whaleoil today……..as of 10.55am (discounting the fluff) there is 7 anti-National posts (6 of which are about Winston), 1 book review of ‘Own Your Own Future’ and one anti-Labour post.

Slater is so out of touch he thinks Judith Collins could create a govt if made leader of National……zero chance though I’ve nothing against her.
