    Excellent news………

    http://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/news/article.cfm?c_id=1&objectid=11914626

“Two men are facing charges over the 30-year-old murder of Maramarua publican Chris Bush.

Counties Manukau Detective Inspector Gary Lendrum said a 57-year-old man was arrested in Tauranga yesterday and charged with murder and aggravated robbery.

A 58-year-old man was charged today in Auckland with murder and aggravated robbery.
The Tauranga man was due to appear in the Manukau District Court today. The second man facing charges around the historic murder would appear in the same court some time next week.”

Lendrum said the breakthrough came after members of the community came forward with invaluable information following renewed focus on the unsolved murder.

Bush was shot dead 30 years ago at the Red Fox Tavern just before midnight on October 24.

He was enjoying a drink with three other staff members after closing up the tavern when two men burst in. The two heavily disguised men, one carrying a double-barrelled shotgun and the other a baseball bat, stormed into the bar yelling “This is a hold-up”.

As Bush stood up, he was shot and killed. One of the men then ordered a female staff member to search Bush’s pockets for the key to the safe. The offenders took off with $25,000.
      … … … … …

      Bloody Good Job!

Hope they don’t stuff it up & that they get a conviction.

Wonder what prompted “members of the community” to come forward after all this time – and exactly what type of “community” they are part of?

Hope to see that revealed in the Herald too at some point soon.

Wonderful news. I remember this well because in those days gratuitous killing was so rare. The wheels of justice grind slow but grind fine. If they are convicted i hope incarceration outlives their time on earth

Get over that. The ‘Brighter Future’ was yonks ago. Key’s gone. Stop whining about the good old days under him & catch up.

The new slogan is “Delivering For New Zealanders”.

      That article says:

Waikato midwives are leaving the profession in droves, leaving pregnant women unable to find a trained maternity carer.

Long hours, burnout and unsatisfactory pay are blamed for 33 midwives quitting in the last year. Twelve more will quit this year, and four next year, according to a recent survey by the Waikato DHB.

Surely to God you’ve got sufficient wit to work with that when it’s perfect for suggesting they’re not actually “delivering for New Zealanders”, are they?
