Open Forum – Sunday

3 September 2017

This post is open to anyone to comment on any topic that isn’t spam, illegal or offensive. All Your NZ posts are open but this one is for you to raise topics that interest you.

If providing opinions on or summaries of other information also provide a link to that information. Bloggers are welcome to summarise and link to their posts.

Comments worth more exposure may be repeated as posts.Comments from other forums can be repeated here, cut and paste is fine.

Your NZ is a mostly political and social issues blog but not limited to that, and views from anywhere on the political spectrum are welcome. Some ground rules:

  • If possible support arguments, news, points or opinions with links to sources and facts.
  • Please don’t post anything illegal, potentially defamatory or abusive.

FIRST TIME COMMENTERS: Due to abuse by a few first comments under any ID will park in moderation until released (as soon as possible but it can sometimes take a while).

Sometimes comments will go into moderation or spam automatically due to mistyped ID, too many links (>4), or trigger text or other at risk criteria.

Free speech is an important principle here but some people who might pose a risk to the site will have to keep going through moderation due to abuses by a small number of malicious people.

  1. Pete. Is this type of thing a possibility at all? ( I get it if answer us NO)

    • You can only add plugins if you host WordPress yourself (or pay for someone to host it), so the answer is know.

This is why I can’t add an edit function.

But as well as minimising cost and management overheads, hosting through WordPress does allow features that self-hosted blogs don’t seem to have. The linking to Twitter, Facebook, Youtube and images seems to work better here then on other blogs.

If you want images in comments you can link to them if they are already available online, or if you email them to me I can load them on site.

      • Thanks Pete. I’m a troublemaker! I already upload to third party sites and put in here – relatively prolifically some might feel! I will have a lot of safari shots soon and won’t link to my various hosted accounts for the sake of my privacy. For some reason I’m a little gun shy here.

I wonder is there a case to be had for opening a separate yournnz posters’ image/host account that we might collectively upload to.

Who can stop Jacinda mania? This guy can. It’s coming to a point where action will need to be taken. Should that happen, poll results will be replaced with body count tallies.

These people need to get out more, Lurchy. Nothing worse then seeing nobodies venting their spleen. I don’t have a problem if these folk realise they are nobodies… or that nobody cares. But when they start talking to themselves, and believe New Zealand is hanging on their every word, then it becomes sad.

Solution- trade lemons for these…and sweeten up.

Bitter this morning? Funny that the cause could also be the medication – polls.

Vote Labour and the price of fuel goes up Lurch – kiwi dollar shaky with every gain in the polls Labour makes.
