The UK is in the beginnings of royal baby fever. Today it was announced that the Duchess of Cambridge is pregnant again. As with her two previous pregnancies it has been announced earlier than they would have liked as she had to cancel an engagement today due to her condition, Hyperemesis Gravidarum.

It is anticipated the baby will be born in late April or early May. Within an hour of the announcement the bookies already had odds on gender and name, with the favourite being a girl called Alice.

This along with rumours Prince Harry is going to announce his engagement in a couple of months will distract the press from Brexit. The Cambridges news already tipped Brexit and first day back for Parliament off the leading news.

Ah, Blazer who knows all making his grand statement with nothing to back it up. If you are so sure say why it won’t be Alice.

So, the favourite names with the bookies at the end of yesterday are:

Girl: Alice, Victoria, Elizabeth with Alice the clear favourite.
Boy: James, Arthur, Albert with Arthur and Albert being the two favourites.

To me gambling is the same trading in Finance Markets. Some people who study it might make a lot of money about it but its a completely useless & unproductive use of money & the house & their investors orowners always win. To those who might argue, well what about Community Grants, or whatever, my answer is well what about Glodman Sachs Corporate Sponsorship?

If I were this couple I’d happily go out of my way to choose a name that none of the bookies have made money off, just because it’s so crass.

Oh, and learn some reading comprehension Blazer, I have never professed that I know – just reported what the bookies are saying at the moment.

I must admit I am interested why you think you know better than the professionals in this, especially since they weren’t wrong the previous two times.

I think they probably do. That’s how they make their lving.

they make their living by having …spreads, and tweak the odds dependent on the volume of betting, aiming to win ,no matter the result.

Once again Blazer (since you seem to be having comprehension difficulties) not me, I just reported, so stop including me in your comments disparaging the bookies.

As to what they know, most have been following royal baby naming trends for decades and have a pretty good track record at getting it right, hence some names are paying lower odds than others. I would trust their judgement of the favourite names over you.

“it won’t be Alice…bet on it.”

You seem to think you know more than the bookies based on this statement you made.

You still haven’t said why you seem to believe you know more than the bookies.

as I said the bookies set their market and adjust it as money comes in.By declaring a favourite in a ‘contest’ like this, they lure in bets .I haven’t seen the ‘field’ but usually they set the odds with the alternate ‘any other runner/name’.Why would they believe Alice is the most likely…’who the fkc* is Alice is one reason for it not to..be.

You have heard of Princess Alice right? The Duke and Duchess have chosen older royal names for their first two, also very traditional names, Alice is one of the favourites for if it is a girl, along with Elizabeth and Victoria, though it is not expected to be Elizabeth.

Just because you haven’t heard of Princess Alice doesn’t mean no-one else has, and I think those that have been watching royal naming trends will have a better idea than you.

Royal watchers this morning have suggested either Victoria or Alice for a girl, or James or Arthur for a boy, but don’t worry Blazer I will tell them their decades of watching and following the Royals means nothing because you know better.

Your reasoning for why you don’t think it is Alice is based on your own ignorance and no analysis at all.

🙄 Whatever. Whatever imperative drove your original comment it just seemed petty in the extreme & further all commentary to have descended into a blind, stupid scrap over nothing.
