Today TFL have made the decision not to renew Uber’s Private Hire licence e in London. Their current licence runs out on 30 September. This means Uber will no longer be able to operate in the Greater London area from 1 October.

TFL say Uber are not fit and proper to hold a licence. This comes after criticism from a senior police officer last month that Uber were not doing enough to deal with complaints of sexual assault by its drivers, and were not reporting the worst of the assaults to the police.

Also of concern is their failure to explain the use of Greyball in London which could be used to block regulatory authorities from having full access to their app.

Ok, i didn’t catch it all, it was at the UN, i think he was talking about Un & Don dick-waving & he was saying someone neutral needs to get involved in getting discussions going between the parties, that someone from a european country might be appropriate …

      Might be reported perhaps?

        Hey G,

Sounds like a good speech. I am still a little out of touch, being halfway through the marathon family visit, and having spent the last two weeks driving up the country (back to London tomorrow). I have only the basics of Kim and Donald’s war of words.

Might have to hunt that out to read a transcript.

Am hoping to do a brief update on Sunday re: Brexit, German Elections (on Sunday), more on the Uber fallout (there are suggestions it is a political decision), and of course more on the arrests and information on the Parsons Green attack.

        • It will be good to get your take on the German elections, good timing as I was going to leave that until tomorrow, their election is Monday our time.

I will have to do some reading up, I have been a little in a news / politics vacuum over the last couple of weeks entertaining family, but I do have a day or so without them (Sunday) so hope to do some catching up.

Early indications are that Merkel will win a fourth term, and that her CDU party and their Bavarian sister party CSU will form a minority Government, most likely in coalition with the SPD.

Also, it looks like the far right AfD could possibly be the main opposition if the ‘grand coalition’ of the CDU and SPD continues.

I will read up some more and post something on Sunday.
