That was interesting. The three pooks turned up about 6.10 am. Pooki eek! ed to see if .i was up & jumped up on the fence, so we had a brief korero thru the open kitchen window, then when I finished my coffee & took my plastic bag of wheat out, & he jumped down on the other side, Bluebelle was there by the compost bin, & Bluey was walking along their little pooky-path at the top of my parenga towards me.

But Prettygirl was also perched on the fence! Without Charlie. And she was scubbed up & looking tidy today, not a wretched-looking thing like yesterday. She’s still very quiet. She usually does a cute whimper – sounds just like a dog – when asked if she wants some food.

I fed her by hand. She was grateful. You could see it in her eyes.

I’ve been thinking about how I could describe the sensation when they take a half dozen wheatgrains out of your hand. It makes me smile – it’s like they’ve got a little machine at the front of their bonces. If you can image an elongated, narrow, castanet that clicks repeatedly – opening & closing faster than you can see – it’s the closest thing I can think of. The grains just sort of disappear into the machine.

Of course she was neat and tidy, it’s Sunday.

My dog sometimes smirks-too funny-just like a person.

I must go and change the clocks. All of them. The computer changed its time a while ago and is now two hours slow.

Complex stuff going on with Charlie & Prettygirl today, Possum. I’ll add it in & send it sometime. Charlie’s down there, patrolling again. He’s so serious about it, not making a fuss, just cruises on up to other drakes, all casual like, somehow persuades them to move on, turns round, paddlewheels back upstream. From the back he looks like a tugboat rather than a patrol vessel tho.

Blew it with Bluebelle. She showed Jojo off. Let her play. Right opposite. She looked up she knew I was watching, she was cool with it. Then I decided I couldn’t get a good enough vid clip with the cellcam zoom & needed to get a bit closer, opened the gate, walked thru, & that was it. She sent her off under cover!

Do you have waxeyes and goldfinches playing musical trees and whizzing between trees like relay runners, crossing paths and then doing it again ? What ARE they doing it for ?

It’s really hard to concentrate on the news with birds racing past the window in both directions like flying Olympic sprinters. Usein Bolt would be a non-starter with this lot.

I’ve got waxeyes who seem to be resident in the area. They’re there every day.
Blackbirds, 2 or 3 of them. And the hens.
Dunnocks – they’re interested in the wheat. Sometimes I put some in a flower-box for them.
Today a welcome swallow buzzed through just above te wai – amazing blue colour. Just a single pilot.
And I’ve got a stunner of a young tui. I’ve heard him lately but he landed on the fence today & showed off. Colour in the light was groovy!

I have waxeyes, swallows, sparrers (of course), thrushes, kingfishers, blackbirds & wives, goldfinches & mynahs (damn their eyes) all the time, tuis, moreporks, woodpigeons, rosellas, shining cuckoos (!), grey warblers and a few others off and on and many who fly over, including white herons as well as the grey ones. I have probably forgotten some, of course. The swallows have been around for quite a while.

Pooki & Bluey are driving Bluebelle nuts! She just wants a feed & to get back to home schooling Jojo. She’s just had twins, for God’s sake! She’s lost one, & the other’s demanding! She’s NOT interested!! They both whine at her for it all the bloody time!
          You know what we’re like!

A very funny man finds Elvis, captures Jewish history in 27 seconds, discovers Jews are human …and proves Israelis are the best looking people on the planet…

Why do you want to know, apart from the fact that you want to keep something going long after it has ceased to be of any interest to anyone ? What an annoying child you must have been, the one who keeps on and on about something-as you still do.

It’s a pity that you never learned the proper use of the ellipse at school or afterwards. Too late now, I suppose…
