I seem to keep hearing Ed Sheeran on radio singing his song:

    … for contrast …

Didn’t see either Charlie or Prettygirl yesterday. Alhough a strong Norwester blew right up the stream all day & it was cold & unpleasant. I didn’t see any other ducks all day either, so maybe both duck sailings & duck flights were just cancelled for the day.

The pooks turned up as usual. Bluebelle’s being driven to distraction by the other two bloody sex fiends. As soon as they’ve cleaned up every wheat grain they’re both at her for you-know-what. Whining. Scratching her back. Meantime Jojo’s over the opposite parenga raspily cheeping out constantly from somewhere in the bracken fern for attention.

Funniest sight was Bluebelle running around in the rushes trying to lose these two sex-mad lotharios while they’re speed-walking after her, whining. In the end she just jumped into the stream to get away from the blighters & swam over to the other side & they gave up.

One thing that was interesting was, while all three were here over the at the same time having dinner, little black fluffball Jojo came out from cover on the far parenga, chirping, & started to make her down to the cliff edge. And it was Bluey who spotted her, & who flew over & shepherded her back under cover, before flying back to the dining area. Both the males do short stints of child-minding, I’ve noticed.

Oh, and all 3 adults know & respond individually to their own names. now. Which I didn’t think would happen.

Well, the Genesis ad surprised me-er, people-with its clever pooks doing all those things. Who knew that they could paint ? I must pooknap a couple, they could fly up and do the high parts.

There was a marvellous Christmas display at Chartwell Westfield with animated pooks-I don’t know if these were in other places or not, but it is nice that pooks are now part of the family, so so to speak.

Charlie flew in twice. About 11 am (I could hear some werp werps from somewhere over the fence, so I sung out Hello Charlie, is that you?) and he zoomed in over the fence. I gave him a half dozen handfuls of wheat, then told him all gone no more and he accepts that now and shuts up the werping. Just goes urrr. I asked him where Prettygirl was cos he fetched her yesterday. No answer. He took off up the driveway, shallow climb, did a hard right rudder into the street and headed off down the park at about Angels 0.02.

Then he came back at noon and we had a repeat performance. Hasn’t been patrolling the stream today.

PS: Bluebelle got totally peed off with Pooki’s pestering today. She was happily clipping my lawn when he rockef on up & started whining again. She walked off & he kept following her, whining away – god it was pathetic – & when he tried stroking her back, she just turned round flashed him an angry look, & bit him on the beak! He got the message!
