I know. It’s outrageous! Just watching something about it on Aljaz. And they said what the Guardian said:

Spain’s attorney general has asked for charges of rebellion, sedition and misuse of public funds to be brought against members of the deposed Catalan cabinet for their role in trying to create an independent state.

José Manuel Maza announced that he would ask the national court to bring the charges against senior members of Carles Puigdemont’s former administration. The Supreme court would oversee possible action against the Catalan parliamentary authorities.

Maza said the charges were being sought “because their actions over the past two years have produced an institutional crisis that culminated with the unilateral declaration of independence made with total contempt for our constitution on 27 October”.

Under Spain’s legal system, his request will now go before the relevant judges for consideration. The independence leaders could be called to testify if charges are brought.
The crime of rebellion carries a maximum sentence of 30 years’ imprisonment, while sedition carries a 15-year penalty. Misuse of public funds is punishable with a six-year jail term.

How can they possibly punish this woman???

“Misuse of public funds”? That is a serious charge indeed. To be perfectly honest (always followed by lies) this is the first time I have ever heard of misuse of public funds by any political party in world history. I am shocked and appalled. Mind you it will cost millions to prosecute and or defend the charges so lawyers from all sides will be fighting for space at the trough. Actually I am one 970th Catalan so I demand my right to submit my view at the senate hearings. I will of course need funding to properly present all my evidence. Now where is that calculator:)

According to the Spanish Government as the Referendum was illegal and the Catalan Government used public funds to run the illegal and unconstitutional referendum they have misused public funds. That seems to be a last minute addition as at the weekend there was only talk of rebellion and sedition.

It is Spain, there will be no senate hearings, it will all be sorted as per the Government’s wish, most have the view that the Spanish Government have only the veneer of democracy.

Good luck with getting that funding however in order to submit your view to the Senate hearings! 🙂

There is a report that Puigdemont and some other members of the Catalan Government have travelled to Brussels, it is unknown at this stage the reason for this visit, though it is believed they are meeting with members of the Flemish Nationalist Party.

Further to the above, it is being reported that Puigdemont and 5 of his Ministers will ask Brussels (as in Belgium, not the EU) for Asylum. A decision is expected in 5 days.

The report says that Spain has put bail for Puigdemont at 6 million Euro.

Latest sex scandal is Kevin Spacey, he is alleged to have made sexual advances to a 14 year old boy in the 1980’s. Spacey made a bizarre statement in which he barely addressed the allegation (apart from saying he did not remember it) but went on to say how he has examined his life, and he has in the past had relationships with both men and women, but has chosen to live life as a gay man.

The statement has not been met with much positivity with many in the media in the UK suggesting he is trying to deflect a serious allegation of sexual assault on a minor by coming out and making it about him.

yet another hastily improvised and poorly thought out trump policy is thrown out on its ear.

There is absolutely no support for the claim that the ongoing service of transgender people would have any negative effective on the military at all. In fact, there is considerable evidence that it is the discharge and banning of such individuals that would have such effects… The impending ban brands and stigmatizes plaintiffs as less capable of serving in the military… [and] reduces their stature among their peers and officers, stunts the growth of their careers, and threatens to derail their chosen calling or access to unique educational opportunities.

    – US District Court Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly

Interesting that the judge determined trump’s tweeting to be a legal liability
