Twyford is off to a ripping start going hyperbolic with some shady stats but the comments from the usually leftie Stuff commentators are calling him out…If there is a shortfall where are the 100,000 living in cars and caves, since when is it the governments job to give house to everyone, communist and loads in a similar vein.
I see Twyford being an early casualty as he doesnt have the brains or the emotional maturity to run housing and transport. Labour will certainly get nowhere near their housing promises but given the demand wont be there anyway as people start de camping again and less migrate here because the opportunities wont be as good as they have been.

And I don’t like Hon Dr David Clark’s haircut, David.
There’s no need for it to be that short. Who’s he trying to be? Bloody Kruschev? 😡
      Just saying.

yeah right…Smith and Bridges are really hard acts to follow. As real figures become available we will see the depth of Nationals mendacity at trying to deflect the lousy job they did in Govt.English rejects informed analysis time and again with his usual’we just don’t accept those figures’.
‘The National government often rejected similar estimates made by banks and researchers.’

To be fair, Blazer. National never had a vision. When they did wake up to the housing crisis it was too late. Phil has had years to formulate his game plan and do shadow costings. We are yet to see if he will deliver. As Dave has pointed out..he has problems.

One thing that is surprising me is media not giving Labour the free ride I was expecting.
Maybe journalists have had it too good under National. Maybe National has house trained them to think in certain ways. Maybe journalists, like the rest of us, are over political bs.

well Corky this is what National said in opposition…’we don’t want kiwis becoming tenants in their own country’
Key…’I have a 4 point plan to address the housing crisis’…that was 10 YEARS AGO.National fueled it and stood by and embraced it ,that an a huge increase in immigration is all they…had.Sad ,useless mofo’s.

I would have held off criticising National until Labour HAS delivered. But each to their own.

And like I said, National never had a plan. What you have quoted is National bullshite.

I thought transport was run pretty well and there was a hell of a catch up to do and thought National did very well. National were woeful on the Auckland housing issue but I couch that by saying they were too timid to force the lefty auckland council into getting their shit together and allowing growth to happen.

‘in February former Prime Minister Bill English rejected an ANZ estimate that put the national shortfall at 60,000 homes as an “erroneous estimate” with estimates that put the shortfall at around 10,000 to 20,000 more likely.’
    deny,then lie,then lie…again..the secret of their ..success.

If there was a shortfall of anything like that magnitude of 60,000 houses and at 3 people to a house everyone in NZ would be tripping over the homeless which is utter bollocks.
Homeless people are homeless either through choice, drug addiction, they are god awful tenants or mental health in NZ.
If you read the OECD report that is oft quoted by the left here NZ went out on a limb and chose a different methodology and if we had stuck with the international standard we would rank alongside Japan in the top 4 best countries.

I’m disappointed in David Farrar blog host of Kiwiblog, has he sold out? given his soul to NZME?every topic now seems to be a herald post. The herald an auckland rag which owns squarktalkZB which is owned by NZME a ranting right wing company struggling to come to terms with a change of govt.David/Kiwiblog I would trust your posts if they were not sourced from the auckland herald or people like the disgraced X MP David Garrett…just saying

David Farrar lives in Wellington and the local rag is the Dom Post the capitals newspaper but not owned by the right wing NZME,but he never seems to use it as a source…sad really

Many of David Farrar’s sources are from Stuff – that is the website of the Dominion Post Lurcher. Of his current posts up, 4 are from the Herald (plus one from Newstalk) , 5 from Stuff and the rest from a variety of sources. What that shows is that he is actually getting info from different places.

What it shows is that he will get stuff from anywhere if it makes the Government look bad and National look good.

As his lead post now is praising a David Clark decision and there others of a similar ilk, you can’t even get that right duperez.

This gives quite a different picture and a lot more contrary information to what is being said about the people (non-refugees) on Manus Island

None of this like, the three accomodation centres in the middle of the town they can walk to, is reported in the papers – I wonder why?
