Comments worth more exposure may be repeated as posts.Comments from other forums can be repeated here, cut and paste is fine.

Your NZ is a mostly political and social issues blog but not limited to that, and views from anywhere on the political spectrum are welcome. Some ground rules:

  • If possible support arguments, news, points or opinions with links to sources and facts.
  • Please don’t post anything illegal, potentially defamatory or abusive.

FIRST TIME COMMENTERS: Due to abuse by a few first comments under any ID will park in moderation until released (as soon as possible but it can sometimes take a while).

Sometimes comments will go into moderation or spam automatically due to mistyped ID, too many links (>4), or trigger text or other at risk criteria.

Free speech is an important principle here but some people who might pose a risk to the site will have to keep going through moderation due to abuses by a small number of malicious people.

The hits keep coming for Labour. Mugged in broad daylight. Probably a great descriptor of Labours political fate for this term in office.. Notice this article has no ethnic description of the
attacker involved.I wonder if that omission was asked for given a Labour Party Person was involved?

She did say the attacker didn’t fit the usual profile. Informative enough for you or you sticking to your conspiracy theory.

      Jeans & a t-shirt is “well-dressed”?

      • If that was said, it would depend upon the jeans and the t-shirt.

If the jeans were Calvin Kleins don’t you think she would’ve said?

No, because under the circs she’d be unlikely to notice !

        • I’d be very surprised if a description wasn’t given because the victim asked for this. In this case, there wouldn’t be much point-they’re long gone and who is likely to recognise them ?

Can you show me where she said that, Noel? I like comparing media reports.

What conspiracy theory? We know the liberal left find it hard using the term Muslim, or Islam, except in cases were they want to denigrate the views people like me hold.

So why not Polynesians? If in fact it was a Polynesian?

Ok Corky; I’ll do the work for you. Labour MP Priyanca Radhakrishnan said the mugging “flew in the face of all stereotypes”. I’m sure you can read between the lines…

        ” a solidly-built, well-dressed man aged 25-35 wearing jeans and a t-shirt” – I’m not sure that exactly breaks the stereotype.

        • Why is it always ‘broad daylight’ ?

             /  November 12, 2017

I’ve never thought about that one before, but it’s a damned good question Kitty.

            • It’s like people being ‘plucked to safety’ rather than being rescued, and then ‘fighting for their lives’, even if they are unconscious.

The cliche that really annoys me is ‘about 100 people, including women (and children)’ Are men not people ?

               /  November 12, 2017

I guess one could equally ask if they say that for the information of anybody who is under the impression women & children are not people?

A good call from Damian Grant against the self-justifying arrogance of IRD bureaucrats who have never tried to run a business or had to worry about their salary payments:
