‘Girl’ and ”lady’ ban?

Teachers should not refer to pupils as “girls” or “ladies” because it means they are “constantly reminded of their gender”, the Government’s former mental health tsar has said.

Natasha Devon told headteachers of the country’s leading girls’ schools that they should be using gender-neutral language when they address their students, and added that the same applied for boys.

Speaking at the Girls’ School Association’s annual conference in Manchester, she said that she would “never walk into a room in an-all girls’ school and say girls or ladies” because it was “patronising”.

I agree with Judith Collins on this.

  1. As do 96% of the 1600 people who answered the poll in the story. And me. How can it be so obvious to most of us but not the “experts”? What is their ultimate goal, their real agenda? Who benefits?

The ultimate goal is a genderless society.

Precisement Duncan. There will be a backlash, it’s only a question of when

    • I think the real ultimate goal is to create a society of people with no sense of self, zombies with nothing to live or die for. They can then be led, unprotesting, into a vacuum of totalitarianism, for the sole benefit of the few who are peddling it.

Quite why this few, who appear to be secular materialists who see nothing beyond their own demise, would bother with such a long-term goal, is perhaps a more challenging question. Maybe the simple answer is that anyone too stupid to see through it is too stupid to see through it.

    It’s the new ‘rightspeak ‘.
Any-one in a university anywhere can make a statement that no one outside a university is allowed to refute or to laugh at..

    It’s a Persin ! (new baby card)

But I am a girl ! I don’t need to BE reminded of that.

I LIKE being a girl. I will soon be going out wearing a pretty coral coloured skirt, white t-shirt and pale blue bag.My face will have make up on it, my hair will be done up and I will have beads on….’I enjoy being a girl’.

    This ‘ban isn’t even new

Good on Collins for highlighting this bullshite. New Zealand should be a PC free zone. Unfortunately, I fear it’s too late. One little increment at a time. Before you know it, you have this:

If the educationalists want to ban a word, how about “kids” when referring to their students.
Kids are baby goats or someone else’s brats.

The usage has been around for 500+ years, so it’s a bit late to think of banning it now.

I’m looking forward to the school prospectus which announces in its rules, “Girls’ and boys’ bits are to be left at home as the presence of them would mean the pupils are constantly reminded of their gender.”

A couple of other minor changes will need to be made too. St. Catherine’s School for Girls and Twigens Boys’ School will need to be relabelled. I expect that the local councils will work industriously to ensure that on all their planning documents and maps that outside those worthy institutions ‘manholes’ are regendered too.

Some idiots are bringing their children up to be ‘gender-neutral’ and not telling them which they are (this is true-one fool in Canada has managed to have the sex on the unlucky child ‘ birth certificate left blank until Junior decides which sex it identifies with) so I foresee some real problems for these poor little sods. ‘Are you a boy or a girl ?” ‘I don’t know .”.

Wonder if these PC feminist will be in favour of gender neutral toilets? After all we don’t want to refer the “gilrs and ladies” to their own toilet blocks, might just highlight their gender.

So welcome ladies (and girls) to sharing your restrooms, bathrooms and changing rooms with us mere males.

I’m pushing to install urinals in all bathrooms so as to put an end the blatant patriarchy of making females sit to pee!

Of course they do, gender neutral toilets are old news, schools, shops, and a number of restaurants are changing all their toilets to gender neutral, though what that is in reality is letting men / boys into the women’s / girl’s toilet.

Women are wonderful and powerful in our own way. We don’t need protecting from language. We don’t need to constantly be treated like victims. And on the flip side men don’t all need to be treated like oppressive groping abusers with a rule book of behaviour. Viva la difference’. Let’s not completely suck the joy out of life.. Lets deal with the bigger issues. Good work Judith Collins.

  10. I’m calling girls and boys girls and boys. I’m calling men and women men and women.

    Like it or lump it.

This was one of the topics this morning on the radio, essentially the host was saying it is a load of b******s.

Also, Piers Morgan has written an opinion piece on it in the Daily Mail today.
