The official announcement of the Royal Engagement came at 10am, at 2pm they had the official photocall.

I will admit to being a bit of a sucker for a Royal Wedding, and Prince Harry and Meghan Markle look so happy together.

The focus has now shifted to the wedding, it will be in Spring, but will be far enough away from the due date for the birth of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s third child, the baby is expected in April so the wedding is expected to be in May. Of course the big question for most in the UK is if there will be a bank holiday for the wedding, not sure on the chance of that, it will be dependent on the day of the wedding as there are already 2 Bank Holidays in May, so it would be funny if they just chose to get married on one of those days saving the country from having an extra bank holiday.

They are expected to marry in Westminster Abbey – despite her being a divorced catholic! However, St George’s Chapel is also a favourite for the wedding.

In two hours all tv channels will be showing the engagement interview, which was done by a BBC Reporter – guess the Royals are sharing the love as Prince William’s interview was done by an ITV Reporter.

Morning PDT, sorry to see that you are such a sad & mean-spirited person that you can’t be happy for a lovely couple who have just got engaged. You really need a little joy in your life, embrace the happiness and good news in a world where bad news is the norm.

lingering class ritual….no relevance in a modern world.

Having a Royal Family protects our democracy from Politicisation of the Head of State, imagine no Royal Family and an elected head of state, we could end up with someone like Trump!

You may see it as class ritual and having no relevance, but in an age of populism, and the rise of the far right and fascist left I see the Royal Family as providing a stability and being a protection against us getting an elected head of state from either extreme, thereby providing a lot of relevance in the modern world.

and it is a lovely romance. Cheer up Blazer, one day you will meet your Prince – or Princess – Charming and live happily ever after. 🙂
