Man, I’ve had to pack it in working outside on the estate. It’s 37°C outside in North Welly & there’s no breeze. 😥

I hacked some carrot weed patches this morning and ended up a sweat-ball. Might do something easier soon when it cools.

Whereabouts? I wonder if there’s some growing now on the far parenga. Was down in the stream cleaning up some rubbish (plastic bags & tree cuttings hung up on some obstruction) around 11.30am but I forgot to go have a closer look.

At the bottom of the hill behind the cabins. Don’t want it taking over there. It’s so hard to control here as it is always raining at the right time to spray it and is hidden in the kikuyu.

I couldn’t get over seeing whole fields full of the bloody stuff on the way to the Hokianga, what a nightmare plant!

              What about gorse ?

              Or couch grass ?

I once heard what it costs the farmer across the road to keep gorse down-it was eye-watering.

I have just googled carrot weed-there is some around here, but it’s not widespread. When we had one woolly nightshade at the bottom of the garden in our other place, the council carried on as if we were running a P house-came in when we were out and left a nasty letter with a threat of a huge fine-but they are not so fussy when it’s on council land.

St John’s Wort is a bloody nuisance.

There are two different plants commonly called carrot weed. The one Al’s got, & that I saw all over Northland, is more properly known as Parsley Dropwort.

Seem to have a lot of black nightshade popping up now, grows bloody quickly and super annoying…

Yep, I waded over & had a look. There are a few carrot weed/parsley dropwort plants dotted about, growing on the far bank. They’re having to compete with ferns, blackberry, creepers, shrubs & various other riverbank grass or rush-type items of flora growing very thickly over there though. They’ll probably be overgrown soon.

The Waikato can turn into a giant sauna in summer. It’s still about 30 outside & has been in the high 30s for ages. By the time I had walked home yesterday, my clothes were wet with sweat and I had to wrap tissues around the handle of the wheeled grocery bag to stop my hands slipping.

There are still a few people in puffer jackets.

Yay. Charlie’s turned up. 😀 He just climbed up out of the water down at my eel spot & had a yack & an urr or two, & ate wheat from my hand, as before. My problem now is that there are four others who look exactly like clones of him, just an inch or two shorter. 😕

I might call them all Trev. 🤔

Much to the delight of my younger Tamariki G, we are currently ‘babysitting’ a friend’s daughters pet goat, while they are away for the weekend. He has a bad habit of getting tangled up in his tether, and obviously can’t be left on the loose at their place. By some funny coincidence, his name is Pete 😀 . Will post a picture tomorrow, if I have time…
